It’s the final Friday of afternoon/evening racing at Busan before we switch back to a daytime schedule next week and there is a 10-race card from 14:30 to 21:00. Here are the previews:

Race 1: Class 6 (1000M) Allowance / KRW 24 Million

She’s been 4^th in both starts to date and Kim Young Kwan’s (3) QUEEN’S FANTASY is favoured to make the breakthrough today. She drops back to 1000M and is well-drawn to get on pace early and lead all the way. (7) FASHION WANG finished 6^th behind Queen’s Fantasy on her last start. She has a 2^nd place to her name at this distance as well and should be one of the biggest dangers. (1) BICHUI HAENGJIN and (5) HUNTER PARK have also offered glimpses of talent and can be considered for at least the places as well. There is one debut-maker. (4) FOX COLORING trailed up competently if unspectacularly at the beginning of this month and may have a say in things first-up.

Race 2: Class 6 (1300M) Allowance / KRW 60 Million

Juvenile maidens only here and precisely half of the field will make their racecourse debuts. However, plenty of the half with experience already have shown promise and they’re likely to supply the favourites. (4) YEONGGWANGUI FIGHT has raced twice, running 2^nd on debut and then 3^rd on reappearance just two weeks ago. He’s run on well on both occasions and the step up in trip for the first time may suit. (5) WONDERFUL IJI was a good 2^nd on debut at the beginning of July. She bled in training causing her to be scratched from a planned second start four weeks ago and she should be a threat here and another who may well appreciate the additional distance. (1) TRUE WARRIOR and (7) POWER AMAZING too made very encouraging debuts while (6) TROPHY COLLECTOR improved into 4^th on his second attempt – beaten by Yeonggwangui Fight – in July. Accordingly, the first-time starters have it all to do with (9) HAPPY GATE perhaps looking the pick among them at this stage.

Race 3: Class 5 (1000M) Handicap / KRW 40 Million

A front-running performance saw (4) THUNDER ALLEY run out a narrow winner at class and distance on August 4^th. It had been coming as well with the gelding getting progressively closer in the races leading up to that maiden win and he can score again here. (3) BAEDARI MUNNING outperformed expectations to run a close 3^rd that day and he can be a danger again although there are a number of others who can push the favorite close too. (1) DIAMOND KING returned from six months out to record his maiden win at this distance on August 5^th and while up in class today, should be competitive. (8) MUCHO remains winless but is up in class having been consistently close behind some promising horses and he too shouldn’t be out of his depth at this level. (7) EURO SHINHWA another who should be in the hunt, dropping back in trip after a 3^rd place over 1200M last time out.

Race 4: Class 6 (1300M) Allowance / KRW 40 Million

A small field of fillies only and (2) KOREAN QUEEN, just beaten a neck into 2^nd place on her latest start, is the one to beat. She’s had seven weeks off since being denied by Vicar Blade on what was her first try at this distance and she can get it right today. (6) DARK TEMPLAR will be expected to set the pace and is capable of staying on to challenge while (1) KEEP GOING had a hard time at a mile last start but should be happier back down in distance today. (4) HUIMANGUI NORAE remains a maiden after twenty-eight attempts but this is the kind of race she can find the money in.

Race 5: Class 6 (1300M) Allowance / KRW 24 Million

(6) CHALLANHAN MISO has shown good promise over two starts so far, registering a 4^th and a 3^rd and it shouldn’t take much more improvement for him to come out on top here. He’ll settle just behind the early lead and should have too much in the latter part of the race. (4) SANGSEUNG DAEHAN ran a good 2^nd over a mile on his latest start six weeks ago. He’ll be on pace early here and will be a danger. (2) TIZ POWER ran promisingly on her return from five months off two weeks ago and can build on it here – she’ll also join the early speed – while (1) NEPTUNE and (7) MYEONGBO VICTOR are others who can have designs on the places.

Race 6: Class 5 (1600M) Handicap / KRW 40 Million

(3) PARK MINISTER returned from three months out to win well by four-lengths over 1300M on August 5^th. That was her maiden win and she steps up to a mile today, a distance at which she already has a 3^rd place to her name, with every chance of making it two wins in a row. (7) EOMJI CHEOK enters off the back of consistently solid performances at class and distances and while he remains a maiden, he should go close again while (6) FIRE POINT similarly comes in with recent form reading well and looks competitive in this company. There are a number up in class. (2) HWANGGEUM BEOLMA was a winner over 1300M last time and while he looks to have a bit to find, shouldn’t be out of his depth while maiden (4) BAEKDU QUEEN attempts this distance for the first time and it could well suit.

Race 7: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 40 Million

A good maiden winner over 1200M in June, (3) EAST WIND was disqualified after a lackluster 4^th place on July 20^th. There’s a top jockey on board today and with a fast start, she should be right in the frame. (1) UNION QUEEN was an easy on the eye five-length winner over 1000M at the beginning of July. She’s had eight weeks off and is up in both class and distance today with solid claims to maintain her 100% record. She will most likely challenge East Wind for the early lead. (4) EURO GONGJU steps back up in trip following two encouraging runs at 1000M and can get close with (9) BLACK ARROW and (10) FOUR STAR others who should be very much in the hunt.

Race 8: Class 4 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(7) CHEONYEONUITAEYANG ran 3^rd behind World Day and Great Rock over 1400M on August 5^th. The time before he beat two of these on his way to victory at this class and distance and he’s the one they’ll need to beat today. He’ll be on pace from the gate. (9) PERFECT BOSS is up in class following a four-length score over 1400M at the end of July and should be very competitive here. (3) JOYFUL STORY and (6) SOJUNGHAN INYEON enter having finished 1^st and 3^rd when they raced each other over 1200M on August 5^th and both will be in the hunt for the money again with Joyful Story once more expected to go the better of the pair. (4) PRIME RACE was a touch disappointing when 6^th in a good race over 1400M on July 39^th but can be given another chance today.

Race 9: Class 2 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 90 Million

Five of these raced each other at class and distance on August 5^th and they filled out 2^nd to 6^th behind very good winner Running Socks. (8) BAENGMUNBAEKDAP came out the best of them that day, six-lengths behind Running Socks in 2^nd. That was his first try at 1800M having won his previous two at 1300M and a mile respectively and he is slightly favored to score again. (9) DAMNYANG TAEYANG, (3) WOOA and (4) KKEUTPAN BOOSTER were little more than a length back that day and all three can go close once more although the main danger may be from one who didn’t run in that race. (2) HIDDDEN CHAMP was an also-ran in both the Korean Derby and Minister’s Cup but returned to the winner’s circle with a very good class 3 victory at this distance at the end of July. He’s under a very light weight today and should go close. (11) INDIAN KING, a Classic winner last year and two starts into a comeback, is the wildcard.

Race 10: Class 4 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(2) GOLD PRINTING seems to have developed a fondness for finishing 3^rd, having ended up in that position in three of his four starts to date. At least two of those races have been stiffer than this, however, and the Ice Box colt has an excellent chance finishing on top here. Aussie import (3) DAMYANG GUNJU was a slightly unexpected winner at class and distance on August 5^th and while he carries extra weight today, a repeat isn’t impossible. (1) FLYING RANGER was 4^th in that race and he should be aiming to improve on that here. (4) HAWK KING is a Korean bred who has won three of seven outings to date including one at this distance. He races for the first time since May but should be a danger. (7) YEOWANGUI TANSAENG put in an encouraging run on her first race back from a lengthy layoff just over a month ago and is another one in with a chance.
