Sunday’s racing is at Seoul (11 races from 10:35 to 17:55) and at Yeongcheon (6 races from 12:45 to 16:30). The feayure is the Listed Ilgan Sports Trophy which is race 8 at Seoul. Here are the previews:

Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1000M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million
(9) G B QUEEN led throughout to win her trial impressively by five-lengths on September 3 and looks a good chance of stepping out on debut to land the spoils for Kim Hyo-jung and Luigi Riccardi. (1) WILD CAVIAR also won her trial on the same day by a lesser margin and in a slower time but should be respected from the Tony Castanheira stable. (2) CLOVER SOCKS trialled once for a narrow second to (7) MEMENTO but with a weight swing from that trial could reverse the form. (8) RAON THE SKY and (10) ADI SOCKS rate next.
| Selections | (9) G B Queen (1) Wild Caviar (2) Clover Socks (7) Memento |
| Next Best | 8, 10 |
| Fast Start | 1, 2, 3, 7, 9 |
Seoul Race 2: Class 4 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million
(1) GOLDEN DIVA comes up to Class 4 for the first time following a second beaten a half-length over this distance a month ago. It is a race of many chances, but she can acquit herself well. (9) ECLIPSE TANGO has been disappointing this preparation, but his best form would probably win this. (5) STORM TROOPER was a Class 5 winner over this distance three runs ago whilst (7) UNJU TIME is knocking on the door for a win with (3) MY SUPERMAN and (4) PICTURE other each-way chances along with (10) BREEDO PHOENIX.
| Selections | (1) Golden Diva (9) Eclipse Tango (5) Storm Trooper (7) Unju Time |
| Next Best | 3, 4 |
| Fast Start | 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 9 |
Seoul Race 3: Class 6 (1700M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million
(2) SINCHEON HEART comes off a last start second on Korean Cup Day in a race over this distance and at this grade and looks to be getting closer to breaking through for a victory but will be well under the odds. (7) KATARINARA finished in the second half of the field in her first two runs when well fancied but was better last start when making up ground for third. It will be interesting to see how she goes rising in trip by 400M. (4) RISING WIND has been sixth in each of her last two starts but was second three runs ago so that form would give her a chance. (6) BEOLGYO SIGNATURE outran odds of 22.0 on debut before only finishing midfield as a 2.2 favourite at his second run. The only juvenile in the field is (8) FLYING DREAM and whilst he has finished in the second half of the field in both of his runs, he should be kept safe whilst (5) GANGHAN PRINCESS rates next.
| Selections | (2) Sincheon Heart (7) Katarinara (4) Rising Wind (6) Beolgyo Signature |
| Next Best | 8, 5 |
| Fast Start | 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 |
Seoul Race 4: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million
(11) MIGHTY CHAMP has the widest draw to overcome but can be given a good chance on his debut third on August 8 although he was not quite as good last start when finishing midfield as favourite on September 13. Two-year-old (4) RAON THE RIPON was behind Mighty Champ in that September race and only managed midfield at his other prior run but they both strike a winnable race here. (5) CUPID DREAMER is another juvenile, and she is by Race Day on debut and has trialled twice with the best of those being a third place on September 3 where she made up ground. (7) THUNDER RUN is hard to catch but gets a four-kilogram apprentice claim which keeps him in contention with other juveniles (10) ECLIPSE EAGLE, who will be well fancied, and (9) NEWBAL SOCKS the other chances.
| Selections | (11) Mighty Champ (4) Raon The Ripon (5) Cupid Dreamer (7) Thunder Run |
| Next Best | 10, 9 |
| Fast Start | 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10 |
Yeongcheon Race 1: Class 5 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million
(2) OASIS GIJEOK could never get into the thick of things at his last run three months ago when running at Class 5 for the first time but his two second places prior to Brown Choco and Lightning Force are the best piece of form on offer in this race so he can break his maiden here if running to that form. (8) TOHAMSAN DRAGON has up and down form but his third two runs ago behind a subsequent winner rates as good enough to win this if he runs to a similar level. (4) TRICK SHOT won a trial at the end of August before finishing fifth over class and distance at Busan at the beginning of September and he will start as the favourite. (7) CHAMP GIRL has had three runs finishing out the back in two of them, but she did win her other run. (5) WONDERFUL LARK has had her issues but from the Thomas Gillespie stable should be respected with (1) GOLDEN POINT next best in a tricky race to assess.
| Selections | (2) Oasis Gijeok (8) Tohamsan Dragon (4) Trick Shot (7) Champ Girl |
| Next Best | 5, 1 |
| Fast Start | 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10 |
Seoul Race 5: Class 5 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million
(3) MY RUNNER ran a fine race on her debut last year coming from well back to run second to Wonpyeong Sket before going one better when leading throughout at her second start. This is her first race for over thirteen months, and she did not necessarily set the world on fire at her latest trial two-and-a-half months ago, but she must be kept safe and will be at value. Two-year-old colt (1) HIGHLIGHT will be very hard to beat going on his upset debut victory where he led throughout over the 1000M. Kim Hyo-jung rides once more and the inside draw should only help on the basis; he is once again fast to begin. (4) TIGER K is consistent and rates as a strong each-way chance with (7) PIEONARI needing to put last start behind him, but he had not done much wrong prior. (11) STUNNING BOLT is not the worst from an each-way perspective with (9) WONDERFUL SEEKING, (6) RAPTURE and (2) YEONGWONHAN STAR next best.
| Selections | (3) My Runner (1) Highlight (4) Tiger K (7) Pieonari |
| Next Best | 11, 9 |
| Fast Start | 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 11 |
Yeongcheon Race 2: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million
(2) BEST TIGER won his maiden over this distance by five-lengths two runs ago before getting the prize in the stewards’ room last start on August 28. Three-kilogram apprentice Son Gyeong-min hops on so he comes down in weight by half a kilogram instead of going up by two-and-a-half and is a good chance of completing the hat-trick. (9) SEOGWI GREAT has some up and down form but her best has seen her win twice and despite rising six pounds and two-and-a-half kilograms from last start she rates highly. (7) OASIS KINGDOM has two-lengths to find with Seogwi Great from when they met on June 12, but he has won his maiden since and was second when attempting this class for the first time last start. (5) JEONGMUN SKIP needs to improve on his first-up run but if he does, he can be around the mark whilst (10) DALBITWIE is the horse that beat Best Tiger on August 28 before being thrown out. The weight swing hurts as does the draw, but he should not be totally denied with (3) WORLD BOLD MAN, a front-running winner three runs ago, next best.
| Selections | (2) Best Tiger (9) Seogwi Great (7) Oasis Kingdom (5) Jeongmun Skip |
| Next Best | 10, 3 |
| Fast Start | 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9 |
Seoul Race 6: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million
(2) TONGKWAEHANSEUNGJA is a Tony Castanheira prepared juvenile colt that has gotten better with every start and recorded his maiden victory most recently over this trip at his third attempt. He has ability and under Kozzi Asano is a good chance of going on with the job. (6) DAEBI MAMA has been a bit hard to catch with three long defeats alongside one career win and one second place from five runs. She would be in with a show if she ran to her best form from four and two runs back with Andre da Silva picking up the ride as Kozzi Asano elects to ride Tongkwaehanseungja. (5) KING SPICY won his maiden over this distance two starts ago before attempting to lead throughout when finishing second at his first run at this class. He is an each-way chance along with (9) WHITE JACKPOT, (11) MONEY MOVE, which rises seven pounds and three kilograms on his last start course, distance, and grade victory, and (4) BEST FREEDOM.
| Selections | (2) Tongkwaehanseungja (6) Daebi Mama (5) King Spicy (9) White Jackpot |
| Next Best | 11, 4 |
| Fast Start | 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 |
Yeongcheon Race 3: Class 4 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million
(11) SUPEX WORLD was third in his one and only trial in May but regardless of that was sent off a 1.3 favourite for his debut and duly obliged from the front by nine-lengths in fast time over two subsequent winners. This is a huge test for him at his second start with the draw only making matters harder but this Moon Hyeon-cheol trained two-year-old colt looks rather good. (8) WORLD DANCER CAT won two of her first four starts, along with two second places, before failing when fancied in the Luna Stakes (Korean 1000 Guineas). She was then fifth in the Gyeonggi Governor’s Cup over 2000M before proving disappointing again in an 1800M Class 4 on August 7. She was better last start when on pace throughout and looking the winner before getting very tired late and ultimately running second. (9) BORYEONGUIKWAESOK won his first two starts but has not been as good in two runs at this grade. (7) DAEGILUI KKUM looked like Pegasus when she won two back but is another who has subsequently struggled at this grade but rates next over the Japanese bred (3) SMART SHAMAL and (6) VELOCI QUEEN.
| Selections | (11) Supex World (8) World Dancer Cat (9) Boryeonguikwaesok (7) Daegilui Kkum |
| Next Best | 3, 6 |
| Fast Start | 3, 4, 7, 9, 10, 11 |
Seoul Race 7: Class 4 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million
(5) SINGSING NASHE produced arguably the best performance of the year so far from a juvenile when winning his newcomer race by seven-lengths from the front in outstanding time of 58.8 seconds for the 1000M. That followed up a thirteen-length score, also from the top, at the trials and all eyes are on this American bred colt by Nashville following that outstanding debut. (11) PURPLE KOREA has led throughout to win each of her last two over subsequent winners and only comes up a half a kilogram for her last start win at this grade so with four kilograms less on her back compared to Singsing Nashe, who for a two-year-old has the grandstand on his back, the three-year-old filly has no excuses. (1) COMPLETE BRO should be around the mark from the draw and is one of the principal bronze medal chances over (10) WONPYEONG TOWN, (9) SAEROUN GUY, (8) GEUNYANG GARA, (6) SEONGSIL DAERO and (7) CHUMCHUNEUN JANGMI.
| Selections | (5) Singsing Nashe (11) Purple Korea (1) Complete Bro (10) Wonpyeong Town |
| Next Best | 9, 8 |
| Fast Start | 1, 3, 5, 7, 10, 11 |
Yeongcheon Race 4: Class 2 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 90 Million
(2) HEY BROTHER bounced back to form last start with a six-length front-running win in a strong Class 3 over this distance. He previously had won a hat-trick of races across the turn of the year prior to a second at Listed grade before failing badly when receiving kickback in the KRA Cup Mile (Korean 2000 Guineas). After a third and a seventh he showed how good he is when he can dictate terms last time and from the low draw, he may not get caught. (10) HONORED KHAN is very consistent and ran a fine second at his first Class 2 try when last seen in the middle of July and can be expected to go close again. (3) DOCTOR CAPTAIN was best of the rest behind Breedo Sol and Doctor Chris last start which is good form. (6) UNJU CHALLENGE has struggled in two runs at this level but her Class 3 form was good enough to give her an each-way chance in this with (1) GEUMA GUTTY next best over (9) EOHWADUNGDUNG who needs to lead and whilst it may be tough from the draw he can go as close as any if finding the top.
| Selections | (2) Hey Brother (10) Honored Khan (3) Doctor Captain (6) Unju Challenge |
| Next Best | 1, 9 |
| Fast Start | 2, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11 |
Seoul Race 8: Class Open (1800M) Special Weight B / Ilgan Sports Trophy (KOR-Listed) / KRW 200 Million
(5) CLUTCH MAGIC looks an outstanding prospect having won five of his eight starts with four of those wins being from his past five. The defeat was a brave fifth in the Minister’s Cup after attempting to lead throughout and he should be able to break his black type duck this time and continue an exciting path forward. If the event is not to be that straight forward, then it becomes incredibly competitive with lots of usual suspects for this type of race taking their chance. (9) MUSKET DAY won the spring equivalent of this race by a long way and has been fourth and third in two subsequent runs. (1) NO PROBLEM won four races in a row before being horribly away on a couple of occasions, one of them he lost his rider, and he seems to have perhaps lost some confidence. His best is good enough to go close though. (3) LUCKY PARTY is consistent and followed up a third to Roshe and a fifth to Zetta Master with a victory in August. (10) TAEPYEONG HERO and (11) ECLIPSE THE KING rate next.
| Selections | (5) Clutch Magic (9) Musket Day (1) No Problem (3) Lucky Party |
| Next Best | 10, 11 |
| Fast Start | 1, 3, 5, 6, 11, 12 |
Yeongcheon Race 5: Class 4 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million
(6) LIGHTNING FORCE is the winner of three races from seven starts and has shown to have ability and even though he has been beaten in two runs to date at this level he can go close to winning this time. (7) RUNNERS HIGH ran last in the KRA Cup Mile (Korean 2000 Guineas) before finishing fourth, third, and second at his next three runs. He made up good ground last start and gets a weight swing on (2) TAMNA FIRST who was an impressive winner of that race on August 28 but rises seven pounds and two-and-a-half kilograms. (9) ALL THE BEST ran a fine second four runs ago and has been just behind the placegetters since whilst (4) MUJEOKYI was a front-running class and distance winner at Busan two back and rates over last start five-length Class 5 winner (3) JOY OF QUEEN and (5) BORYEONG ONE ROAD who has been second in four of her past five runs.
| Selections | (6) Lightning Force (7) Runners High (2) Tamna First (9) All The Best |
| Next Best | 4, 3 |
| Fast Start | 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9 |
Yeongcheon Race 6: Class 3 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million
(9) WORLD BLUE PIN CAT came up to this grade for the first time last start and ran a fine second splitting Clearly Winner, who is arguably the best three-year-old filly in the country, and Momentum, a subsequent winner. She is one of the two principal runners with the other being (10) GREAT TOP who is a smart type that ran third to the impressive Super Aero last start following only a ninth place and an eleventh when taking on the big guns in the Owner’s Cup. It must be noted that he is a horse that resents the whip so Song Kyeong-yun will have to ride him exactly right. Of the rest (5) YULIM SESANG was second three runs ago whilst (11) BLACK SPRING was an impressive grade and distance winner earlier in the year but has not run to that form in four runs since. (1) BEOLMAUI ACE and (4) BEOLMA BROWN rate next.
| Selections | (9) World Blue Pin Cat (10) Great Top (5) Yulim Sesang (11) Black Spring |
| Next Best | 1, 4 |
| Fast Start | 2, 3, 9, 10 |
Seoul Race 9: Class 1 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 110 Million
(1) PEPPER X is hard to catch from the front on his day as evidenced by his wins six and two runs back. He took a chance against the big guns in the KRA Cup Classic last start and despite being kept very safe in the market at odds of 13.0 he found that challenge a step above. Back to Class 1 grade he should be able to retain the lead from the inside draw and therefore prove hard to pass. He may just have too much speed for his main danger in the progressive stayer from the Riccardi yard in (2) G B VAULT which bounced back to winning ways last start under topweight in a Class 2 over this distance. He was found wanting at his first Class 1 one attempt the start prior when sent off a short-priced favourite but is worth another chance. (8) VICS GO rarely runs a bad race whether it be over sprint journeys or long journeys and his last start half-length second to Super Finish under a huge weight is as good a form as any in this race. (5) MAUIWAY is the enthralling runner having his first run for thirteen months. He comes into this following a five-length front-running trial victory over Raon Forest and at his last two starts in August and September last year he beat Vics Go. (4) ZETTA MASTER naturally cannot be denied a chance and will be hoping for a hard pace to run home at as ever whilst (9) HERO FIGHTER is a last start course, distance, and grade winner, ahead of G B Vault, and he carried four-and-a-half kilograms more that day so he is definitely not hopeless.
| Selections | (1) Pepper X (2) G B Vault (8) Vics Go (5) Mauiway |
| Next Best | 4, 9 |
| Fast Start | 1, 2, 5, 7, 9 |
Seoul Race 10: Class 4 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million
(7) FLUTTER strung together a hat-trick of victories before taking a chance in the KRA Cup Mile (Korean 2000 Guineas) where he ultimately dropped out. He has had three runs since and whilst he has not won either of them, he has been far from disgraced finishing third and second after doing a lot of work to lead before being unable to lead last start from a wide draw in a strong race and boxing on well to run fourth. He looks a good chance of finding the top without doing too much work in this race and can be hard to beat. (11) YOUNG FIGHTER is another three-year-old who comes off a last start narrow course, distance, and grade runner-up finish after attempting to make all the running and can go close despite the widest gate. (6) MASTER PLAN was out the back at his most recent run in July when running at this class for the first time but had three consecutive second places prior and in one of them he split Gwanaksan Sky and the reopposing (3) WONPYEONG GANGJA which is a last start winner when running at this grade for the first time and despite rising seven pounds and three kilograms should not be denied a chance, and definitely will not be by punters. (5) EVER GLORY was impressive winning her first two starts but has since been found out in three runs at this grade whilst (9) NAMSAN MINAM rates next.
| Selections | (7) Flutter (11) Young Fighter (6) Master Plan (3) Wonpyeong Gangja |
| Next Best | 5, 9 |
| Fast Start | 3, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11 |
Seoul Race 11: Class 3 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million
(11) KOREAN DREAM broke his maiden two runs ago before running a fine second to the smart Hero Cheetah when attempting to lead throughout at the end of July in what was his first run at this level. Ruan Maia stays aboard and despite the outside gate he can go close. (8) STORM CROWN also won his maiden two runs ago and he did it in style by six-lengths despite a bad start. He was fifth in his first Class 3 attempt most recently but was only beaten two-and-a-quarter lengths and can be given another chance. (5) RAON SPILETTA comes up to this grade for the first time following a victory over Korean Cup weekend over this distance and can go well. (7) CRAZY MANGO is a good leader on his day and bounced back to form when almost pinching the prize in a better Class 3 than this last start. (4) DANCING WHIZ, (1) GEUMSE, (9) MOVING VOLCANO, (2) HEALING HAVEN and (6) GLOBAL SERVE are all each-way chances in a competitive finale.
| Selections | (11) Korean Dream (8) Storm Crown (5) Raon Spiletta (7) Crazy Mango |
| Next Best | 4, 1 |
| Fast Start | 1, 2, 6, 7, 10, 11 |
