UK jockey Darryll Holland, who had a successful year at the track in 2013-2014 returns to Busan this week. He has three rides on Friday with a further eight on Saturday. English race cards are here. Notes on races to be simulcast overseas are below:

Race 3: Class 5 / 1300M / Handicap / KRW 40 Million / 14:05

Competitive race but while (9) PARTY TONIGHT is yet to win in four outings and up in class, he’s favoured to score here. He was just beaten a head on his first start at this distance a month ago having started poorly. If he can get away better here, he should be tough to beat. (6) MR. SPENDING beat (7) BAEKDUBONG as the pair raced 2nd and 4th over this distance on December 2nd and the former especially should be a danger again today while (1) DANCING STAR comes in following back to back 3rd place finishes, the first of them at class 1, and will be backed. (4) WINNING GILI and (5) YOUARE THE CAPTAIN look best of the rest.

Selections: (9) Party Tonight (1) Dancing Star (6) Mr. Spending (5) Youare The Captain

Race 4: Class 4 / 1200M / Handicap / KRW 55 Million / 14:50

(4) JEONGSANG KOREA showed plenty of promise when running 2nd on debut in November. The extra furlong today should suit and he’s favoured to make the breakthrough here. (9) CHOA was 3rd in a similar race earlier this month and should go close again while another locally-bred entrant, (2) REALLY ONE tries his luck here after three 2nd places among his last four starts. His best performances have come at 1000M but he should have enough to stay on here. (3) DANGDAE GEOHAM and (11) POKPUNGUI JEWANG are others who should be aiming for the places.

Selections: (4) Jeongsang Korea (9) Choa (2) Really One (3) Dangdae Geoham

Race 5: Class 4 / 1200M / Handicap / KRW 55 Million / 15:35

(9) ALBERT VICAR was a class and distance winner at lengthy odds last month and is one of a number with claims in this very competitive race. (6) V DIVA has been slightly disappointing in her last two outings but gets another chance here and can go better while (4) MOMENT and (10) DAMNYANG JANGGUN are both up in class and while the do have a bit to find here, can be competitive. (7) SSI F STAR comes in following back to back 3rd places over 1400M and can match those today while (2) SORICHYEO and (12) KKOKDAEGI were 2nd and 4th when they raced each other three weeks ago with the latter especially with potential to improve. British jockey Darryll Holland returns to Korea on (3) NURI BULPAE and that one too is not without a chance.

200M-Finish: 6, 4, 2, 7, 11

Race 6: Class 3 / 1600M / Handicap / KRW 72 Million / 16:20

(6) SANTA GLORIA’s last two starts have been in Stakes races and while she has run creditably enough, she found herself a little overmatched but is worth giving another chance to in what should be slightly more amenable company here. (5) HWANGJEUI TANSAENG, with three wins and two 2nd place finishes from his last five outings looks the main danger while that one’s stablemate (11) SPECIAL ROOKIE has claims too. (4) JANGGUNEUI HUYE and (9) GUMPO MIRACLE the best of a competitive rest.

Selections: (6) Santa Gloria (5) Hwangjeui Tansaeng (11) Special Rookie (4) Jangguneui Huye

200M-Finish: 10, 2, 1, 5, 6

Race 7: 1200M / Class Open / Allowance (2yo) / KRW 200 Million / 17:05

Valuable race for two-year-olds here and favourite status looks to be between (4) BLUE TIME, who comes in having won her last three and (5) EUROPA, who beat three of these when winning the track’s top juvenile race in October before running a slightly disappointing 5th in the Breeders’ Cup race in Seoul at the beginning of this month. (8) AMERICAN POWER is two for two and still something of an unknown quantity as is (3) EOREUM GONGJU who takes on this distance for the first time. (1) ICE MARINE also struggled in the Breeders’ Cup race but should be better back in Busan at 1200M today while (6) ILLYU STAR looks the best of a decent rest.

Selections: (5) Europa (4) Blue Time (8) American Power (1) Ice Marine
Next Best: 6, 3
Rating: 5, 1, 4, 7, 6
Fast Starters: 1, 2, 3

200M-Finish: 8, 2, 4, 7, 3

Race 8: Class 2 / 1400M / Handicap / KRW 88 Million / 18:00

Denied by a head over 1200M on his first try at class 2 four weeks ago, (7) JANTEUGAREU is favoured to get back to winning ways today. It won’t be easy though. The promising (5) BEOLMAUI SIN is up in class today and will be dangerous while (9) SUPER CHEOLIN was a class and distance winner last month and despite carrying more weight today, should be a factor. (11) RISING CHAMP is lightly raced but is talented while (12) GABOGAPJJANG makes a quick return having been a disappointing 4th when favourite at class and distance just two weeks ago an can be given another chance here.

Selections: (7) Janteugareu (5) Beolmaui Sin (9) Super Cheolin (11) Rising Champ
Next Best: 12, 6
Rating: 9, 5, 4=6, 2
Fast Starters: 4, 8, 11
Start-200M: 11, 2, 3, 8, 10
200M-Finish: 5, 12, 6, 3, 7
