Yeongcheon (Pic: KRA)

Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1000M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million

Juvenile maidens with all but one racing for the first time. (10) AWESOME MORNING was the quickest in trials although he did have the advantage of having a certain Roshe to aim at. He was eight-lengths behind him but seven lengths in front of anything else and that’s enough to have him on top here. (9) NURI CHAMP won his trial, showing on pace throughout and stopping the clock in a fair time. He can get to the front here and can be a danger. (5) WINNER RISING posted a decent time when leading in her trial, ultimately running 3rd behind an experienced racehorse. Clutch Champ, who debuts on Saturday, was 2nd, half a length in front of Winner Rising, so it may be worth seeing how he goes. (11) WAWA SOCKS won her trial and must be considered, with (4) NOW DAYS another who hinted at ability.

Seoul Race 2: Class 6 (1400M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million

Juvenile maidens although all have raced before and there are two standouts. (6) MYEONG BEAUTIFUL debuted over 1200M on September 12th, settling in midfield and running on for 3rd place in a decent time. She should have come on for that run and the way she worked home suggests that the increased trip can be in her favour. (2) POWER RACER debuted back in July over 1000M and ran 3rd, eleven-lengths behind Samjeong Chef, who hasn’t quite kicked on. He was spelled for six weeks from mid-August but as been back in work since the beginning of this month and while he hasn’t trialed, he can go well first up. (7) OVER AND OVER was 5th on debut over 1000M on September 13th, running through the line well and he can improve here. (3) CANDLES STAR and (4) BAEKSAN RACE others to consider on a place line.

Seoul Race 3: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

(10) MIGHTY CHAMP has two 3rd places from three starts so far, most recently when leading over this distance on October 4th. He won’t need to improve much on that effort to win here. (3) TOUCH THE SKY beat Mighty Champ as the pair came home in 3rd and 6th when they raced each other over this distance on September. She debuted all the way back in March 2025 and has only raced three times so while she comes in again after seven weeks off, she still has scope for improvement. (4) MY DOLPUNG put in a poor effort in that September 13th race but prior to that registered a 3rd and a 4th and wit Andre on for the first time, can be given another chance. (1) FULL STRIKE and solitary debut-maker (11) HANWHARYUNG others in the placing frame.

Seoul Race 4: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(6) SURPRISE recorded a 2nd and a 1st in his two first appearances over the turn of the year but then didn’t appear again until October 5th when he almost managed to lead from gate to wire but ultimately fell to a half-length defeat. He should strip fitter for that run, and he will be a short price to go one better today. (1) STUNNING SERVE enters off back-to-back 3rd places at this class over 1400M. Luis knows him very well and he can be there or thereabouts again today. (4) CHOWOLMA has been very consistent at this class and enters after a narrow defeat at the hands of the longest shot on the board at this class and distance on September 12th. He can settle behind the speed and run on here. (9) RAIN STAR and (7) JEJU BLUE, the latter up in class following a maiden win, are others to consider.

Yeongcheon Race 1: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(7) ACE CROW has raced three times and has finished as runner-up three times, most recently leading on her first try at this class and distance on October 2nd and being passed late. She comes to Yeongcheon for the first time, she can lead again, and it may suit. (2) YEOUN is another who seems to enjoy finishing 2nd. She has a win to her name but also has four 2nd places, including her latest two at this class over 1300M and 1200M. She can sit just behind the speed and be in the finish again. (1) CHOEGANG LOUIS came to Yeongcheon on October 11th at this class and distance and proceeded to lead from gate to wire to score his maiden win at start twenty-one. He comes up a full 4kg in the weights, but a repeat shouldn’t be ruled out. (5) OASIS KINGDOM and (10) WORLD BOLD MAN are the other main chances.

Seoul Race 5: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(9) EAN FIRST returned from ten months off on October 4th and while he only managed to finish 7th of eleven, the margins weren’t big, he had shown plenty of promise before the layoff, and he can improve enough to win today. (1) BEOLGYO EMPEROR had a hard time over 1700M last time out. He drops back in trip today and based on his form prior to his latest he should be in the mix. (8) WONDERFUL CHIEF remains a maiden but comes up in class following back-to-back runner-up finishes over 1300M. He has been back to trial since his latest run, winning it, and down in weight, he can be competitive in this company. (4) BREEDO GALAXY and up in class (6) ILGEUP BISEUL among others who can compete for the minors.

Yeongcheon Race 2: Class 5 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(9) BULBIT GANGJA has a win and five placings at this distance and came to Yeongcheon for the first time on October 11th and ran a fair 4th at this class and distance, beating a couple of today’s rivals. In this company, he can be on or close to the pace, and he can win. (8) GREAT POWER makes a third trip to Yeongcheon. She comes in having led from the front to win over 1400M on October 18th and while she is up 2.5kg in weight today, she can be a danger again. (3) BLACK JILJU beat a couple of today’s rivals on her way to 5th place at this class and distance here on October 4th and she can be aiming to get closer today. (2) HEUIMANG TAYO and the returning (5) BLUE HUNTER, the latter racing for the first time since January and boasting a promising record before the layoff, are others to consider.

Seoul Race 6: Class 5 (1700M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

It’s hard to go far past (1) BLACK SUN here, despite the fact that she’s still a maiden after fifteen attempts. She has been getting progressively closer though, culminating in a 2nd place at this class and distance on October 5th when only beaten half a length by favourite Black Mama. She can get a bit far back in her races but if she is within striking distance in the home straight, today should be her day. (8) POWERFUL ARCTIC comes in having scored her maiden win at start number nine on September 20th. She is up in class but has thrived at two turns and she can measure up here. (11) GLOBAL LAND is yet to win in eight but has four placings including last time out when she was 2nd at this class over 1300M. She comes up to the 1700M for the first time and under a light weight, she can challenger. (5) SKYLOR TAEHA and (4) K SOCKS among other chances.

Yeongcheon Race 3: Class 4 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(10) QUEEN WIND has five top two finishes from ten starts and comes in following 2nd place on her first go at this class and at Yeongcheon on September 20th. She carries the same light weight, she doesn’t need to lead so the wide draw shouldn’t be a problem, and she can win. (5) TAMNA FIRST goes best when he can get to the lead, something he was unable to do on his first visit to Yeongcheon on October 18th when he was drawn in gate 11. He gets a much better draw tis time and if he can get to the front, he as every chance. (7) B K. SPIRIT has taken to Yeongcheon well, with a 3rd and a 4th in two tries here, both at this class and distance. She stays under a light weight and can be there or thereabouts again. (9) TRICK SHOT and (2) QUEENS DRAGON are the other ones likely to be in the market.

Seoul Race 7: Class 1 (2300M) Special Weight B / KRW 110 Million

A race where horses who might excel at the Grand Prix distance have a chance to prove it and get their rating up to qualify for it. (3) MUSKET DAY won the Listed Sports Chosun over 2000M in May and enters off a 2nd place in the Listed Ilgan Sports at 1800M on October 4th. He runs best when settling right back and closing strongly and 2300M could well suit. (10) PEPPER X ran 2nd at this class and distance at the end of May and also had a spin around in the KRA Cup Classic. At his latest he ran 2nd over 1800M at class 1 level and while the weight scale here isn’t in his favour, he is a big danger who won’t be far away. (1) TRAUM KING was an on pace winner over 2000M at class 2 level in September and is another who can stay on for 2300M. (8) BLACK BELT and (9) YONGAM SESANG are the other leading contenders.

Yeongcheon Race 4: Class 4 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(4) MOST WANTED stepped up to 1800M for the first time at Busan on October 2nd and after settling in midfield, went on to take a narrow win. He is up in class for his first visit to Yeongcheon, but he draws well and he has every chance of winning again. (8) DAISY TIARA is yet to score in six, but she has been getting closer, most recently only going down a neck at this class in an all-filly race over a mile on October 9th. She is up to 1800M for the first time and this half-sister to Dolkong has an excellent chance of making her breakthrough. (1) SWORD WING was a winner at this class and distance in July and has followed up with two 5th places since and he can be a factor. (10) MAKE IT BETTER and (6) DOCTOR CARRY also in the placing frame.

Seoul Race 8: Class 4 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

Competitive race and we’ll take a chance on (4) FLYING SMART. She got her maiden win over this trip in June, and class 5 didn’t detain her long as she ran 2nd over 1400M in July and then won at 1300M in August. She weakened when well backed over a mile on her first try at this class on October 3rd but back in trip and under a very light weight, she is worth another chance. (8) ARION QUEEN CAR enters off 2nd place at this class over 1300M on October 3rd when she almost led all the way. She stays under the same light weight, she can lead again, and she can be in this a long way. (3) SUPREME DIA was 3rd, three lengths behind Arion Queen Car in that October 3rd race. She has only raced four times and is getting better each time. (7) SUN DOLPUNG and (9) CHEONGSAN DOLPUNG are the other main contenders.

Yeongcheon Race 5: Class 4 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(4) JOY OF QUEEN was an on pace winner over 1200M at class 5 level two starts back before running 4th on her first visit to Yeongcheon on October 4th. She comes up to 1400M for the first time, but there is no reason it can’t suit, and she has as good a chance as any here. (2) WINNING TREE won at 1400M on September 11th before finishing down the field on her first try at this level over a mile on October 2nd. Back in trip and drawn well, she can go much better today. (8) ARCHER HEART returned from five months out to run 3rd over 1200M on September 20th, coming from off the pace. He should strip fitter for that run and can match or better today. (11) GLOBAL HEROINE and (1) DOLPHIN KICK other place chances.

Yeongcheon Race 6: Class 3 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

After finishing 2nd in last year’s Breeders’ Cup Rookie, (2) SUPER AERO went lame and missed the first half of his three-year-old campaign. He is a perfect two from two since returning with both victories at 1200M, most recently at this class on August 21st. He tackles Yeongcheon for the first time and 1400M for the first time since that Breeders’ runner-up and he will be a hot favourite to make it three in a row. (1) MUJEOKYI was an all the way winner in a very quick time over 1200M here on October 4th. He has placed over 1400M and despite the class rise, he can be close again. (11) STRAWBERRY QUEEN is a bit of a form mixer, and she is up in class, but she was a strong 2nd over this distance at this course on September 20th and can place again. (8) ENCORE, along with the returning (3) WIND BULLET are others to consider.

Seoul Race 9: Class 4 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

After finishing midfield on debut, (8) WHITE THUNDER got her maiden win at start two over 1000M in August and then followed up with another over 1300M on September 19th wen making all. That brings her rapidly up in class and again up in trip, but she can be equal to that and can complete her hat-trick. This is a hard race though and she may not be favourite. (1) GEUMJEOKSAN was a winner at this class and distance in July and has since run 4th on two occasions, most recently on October 5th when beating a couple of today’s rivals. She has her fair share of weight to carry, but she is a big danger. (10) MIGHTY HUNKY ran 3rd in the France Galop trophy for juveniles in September and while e disappointed as favourite on October 10th, the step up in trip can suit. (7) BANK LINE and (9) COMPLETE BRO also in the mix.

Seoul Race 10: Class 3 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

(2) THE SUN BULSAJO has won her latest three and five from seven in total, most recently a valuable trophy race over this distance on international weekend when she led from gate-to-wire. Back in regular company today, she comes up 4.5kg in weight but has won under similar before and from a good draw, she can be on pace and make it four in a row. (8) EVERY TIME is the danger. With two wins and four 2nd places, he is yet to finish outside of the top two and was most recently 2nd in another of the trophy races on international weekend. He has posted faster times for the 1200M than The Sun Bulsajo and as a 2.5kg weight advantage. It’s hard to go beyond those two in either order for the quinella. The returning (4) DIANA has a good record at this distance and looked well in a trial earlier this month. (7) MISS WIN STAR and (3) GLOBAL SERVE are the other contenders for a place.

Fillies and mares to close out the card. (3) NAMSAN BELT had a tough day at the office when a well beaten favourite last time out two weeks ago. Prior to that, she was a close 2nd to Catch Race over a mile and then to The Sun Bulsajo (who we should have just seen in race 10) in a valuable trophy race on international weekend at 1200M. On that form she is well worth another chance here. (8) CLUB Q found it hard in the Jeju Governor’s Cup on the Queens’ Tour but was going very well before that wit all five of her wins coming over this distance and up to this class. She and regular jockey Kim A-hyun seem to click and they can return to form here. (6) GOLD CATCHER comes in off back-to-back 2nd places over 1200M. She is a two-time winner over this trip and while she carries her fair share of weight, she can be in this. (5) LOVE IN SEOUL and (2) RAON FINALLE are others in the hunt.
