Twilight racing starts on Saturday (Pic: KRA)

Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1000M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million

(6) HWANSANGUI LUNA was a trial winner on June 4 which led her to be sent off as an odds-on favourite on debut sixteen days later. She got terribly upset in the gate and delayed the start that day but was passed fit to run and finished third which was not a bad effort under the circumstances. Seo Seung-un rides and if she behaves better and does not use up all her energy before the gates crash, she can do better at attempt two. (1) GWANAKSAN WINDY has trialled once for a half-length second to (4) TONGKWAEHANSEUNGJA on June 11. The former gets a weight swing whilst the latter has had a race since but could only manage seventh. (4) POWERFUL MR. was third in a trial before a fifth on debut and is best of the rest over (10) NAMGYEONG SPINNING and (3) FULL STRIKE.

Selections(6) Hwansangui Luna (1) Gwanaksan Windy (8) Tongkwaehanseungja (4) Powerful Mr.

Seoul Race 2: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

(9) MIGHTY CHAMP was last throughout in his first trial on May 14 but won a trial on July 2 beating a subsequent winner and that form clearly looks the best on offer in what looks a winnable maiden for this three-year-old colt by Girolamo on debut. (4) DAREURI YEOWANG has been in consistent in four runs and has been getting closer so on that basis he looks the best of the raced brigade. (2) KATARINARA was beaten seventeen-lengths into sixth when a 3.0 favourite on debut. She had run second in a trial prior however and rates next over (7) GUNJU MINSU, a debutante by Peace Rules with Seong Sang-hyun, (3) YEONDONG STAR and (5) GOSANBONG.

Seoul Race 3: Class 6 (1400M) Special Weight A / August 15 Liberation Day Commemoration / KRW 30 Million

(4) DUSON LIFE came the closest he has come to winning last start with a second place although he did not actually come close to winning at all in the scheme of things as he was beaten sixteen-lengths behind an impressive winner. However, that rates as good form and with Ruan Maia riding once again he can go one better. (1) CHEONMA NUBI has been getting closer and from a low draw rates as an each-way chance whilst from the opposite barrier (11) PNS WORK has been just behind the placegetters in two of her past three. (8) LOVING PURPLE is the only other hope with (6) AREUMDAUN BIT and (9) GOD SPEED best of the roughies.

Seoul Race 4: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(11) CHALLENGE SOCKS has been much improved at her last two starts and is worth an each-way investment at value in an extremely competitive race. She has a half-length to find with (3) BANK LINE from June 6 but a slight weight swing goes in her favour. The latter has raced subsequently finishing third behind the unbeaten Major Fury on July 5. (6) FLASH JUDE won her maiden three back and has been close in two runs at this grade whilst (7) ECLIPSE SUNNY broke her duck on June 14 before only managing fourth as an odds-on chance when running at this class for the first time. (8) TIGER REVENGER and (10) MIGHTY CAP are other chances along with (5) GLOBAL LAND, (1) NASCA BULCHUNGGAEK and (9) MUNHAK FIGHTER.

Seoul Race 5: Class 5 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(3) MR.CREDIT comes up to one win grade for the first time after three third places in maidens. He may be able to dictate terms in front and gets the nod narrowly over fellow maiden (7) SHARKTEN who has not been far away of late bar last start. (11) SUPER ECTON should be doing his best work late whilst (9) CHROMITE continues to race consistently at this grade and this is easier than recent runs so he must be given an each-way chance once more. (8) BEOLGYO ALADDIN and (2) CHRYSOL MAJOR rate highly also.

Seoul Race 6: Class 4 (1700M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(6) POWERFUL PRADO has only missed the top five once which was back on her debut and did nothing wrong in her first run at this class last time when attempting to lead throughout. That was her first run over this distance so the trip may be a concern, but she is good enough to see it out. (1) NICE WINNER has also only missed the top five on one occasion and despite rising in distance should be on pace from the lowest draw. (2) J ONE POWER also goes up big in trip and was always in the second half of the field in his first Class 4 attempt last start, but his prior win was impressive. (9) MATTERHORN K and (5) BEOLGYO D Y are other chances with (8) VICTORY QUEEN best of the rest.

Seoul Race 7: Class 4 (1600M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(6) ANYANGBITCHUISOKDO was two places and five-lengths ahead of stablemate (10) GEOSEN DAERO in the Rookie Stakes twelve months ago and has only raced three times since. He was third when resuming before winning the next time prior to never getting into the hunt as favourite in his first attempt at this level last start. The rise in trip should not hurt and he rates highly with Andre da Silva on board for the first time. Regarding Geosen Daero he is first-up since March but came from midfield to win a trial narrowly in the middle of last month. He has been placed twice at this class from two runs. (2) THUNDER MARVEL rises seven pounds and two kilograms for his last start 1400M victory at this grade and will once again be doing his best work late. (8) DONGGANGUI STAR comes up to Class 4 for the first time following a Class 5 win at the end of May whilst (9) RAON THE BELMONT and (5) BEOLGYO LAVA are each-way chances.

Seoul Race 8: Class 4 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(9) G FLEX led throughout to beat the multiple subsequent winner Master Kwaigon over the course and distance one grade below this at the end of February prior to finishing down the track in the KRA Cup Mile (Korean 2000 Guineas). He resumed with a runner-up finish at the end of June and with Ruan Maia riding for the first time can go one better. (6) ECHO STAR won by a nose over 1400M at the end of April from the front before always being in the second half of the field when making her Class 4 debut. However, her second to Concord Blue, who we see in Race 9, three runs back naturally rates as excellent form. (3) NAOL PASS was outclassed in The Oaks down at Busan when last seen at the races three months ago but was going well enough prior whilst (10) GOOD MORNING COME was a course, distance, and grade winner coming from midfield two back before never getting into the contest when rising two-and-a-half kilograms at his next run, which was also course, distance, and grade. He rises a further half kilogram for this. (7) JJARITHAN HAENGBOK is the other main player with (11) STORM TROOPER best of the rest.

Seoul Race 9: Class 3 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

(9) CONCORD BLUE was best of the horses that ran on pace in The Derby, bar the winner Hwang Geum Eo Jang and the third placed Funny Wild, before running a game second after working hard on June 6. Ruan Maia rode for the first time last start on July 5, and he produced a career best with an effortless ten-length score. He comes up fourteen pounds straight into Class 3, but it is unlikely that will stop him as he looks very progressive. The consistent (2) CLUB Q has never missed the top four from nine runs and is looking for three consecutive wins with the most recent of those being in the middle of May. She went lame at the end of June but has been back in work since the 24th of last month. Her regular rider Kim A-hyun fractured her foot in trackwork a fortnight ago so unfortunately misses riding her for the first time but Seo Seung-un is an able deputy. (11) WHIZ STAR comes up to Class 3 following two on-pace Class 4 wins in March and June and creates interest. (1) GLORY YEONGGWANG is another interesting runner first-up since December with (8) TOHO SKY and (3) EAST GANGJEOK best of the rest.

Selections(9) Concord Blue (2) Club Q (11) Whiz Star (1) Glory Yeonggwang

Seoul Race 10: Class 2 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 90 Million

(11) ROYAL SOCKS continues to race well and comes up to this grade for the first time following an on pace 1200M victory at Class 3. Prior to that he was third to Raon Florence, subsequent Class 2 winner, and Di Ne so he should be more than up to this level and can win again. (4) MARU JANGGUN has won over the course and distance at each of his last two in contrasting styles racing on pace two back at Class 3 before grabbing victory on the line when debuting at this grade last start. He rises five pounds and two kilograms but could complete the hat-trick. (8) FLYING DAY was a tad disappointing last start compared to her three runs leading into that race however she was far from disgraced. She does have the grandstand on her back weight wise in this event, but she will run her usual honest race and could easily win. (9) BLUE PIORA was an excellent eleven-length winner last start and must not be discounted whilst (10) THUNDER DREAM was much improved most recently and (1) DAEHEUNG CLASS has been fourth in two Class 2 attempts. (6) COSMO RUN rates next.
