It’s Owners’ Cup day at Busan with Roshe looking to maintain his unbeaten record in the G3 feature over a mile. There are 7-races at Busan from 11.25 to 16.55 and 10 at Seoul from 10.35 to 17.55. Here are the previews:

Seoul Race 1: Class 4 (1000M) Special Weight A / KRW 75 Million
Imported maidens with all but two racing for the first time. (2) MAHO went through two trials, running 2nd in a slow time in the first of them but then winning the second with an on pace effort (62.3 seconds on May 21st for those whose racecards don’t show it as it was a voluntary trial). From a great draw, if he brings that form to the races, he can win. (6) KKUMUI YEONSOK trialed up alongside some experienced horses and didn’t look out of pace as he ran a close 4th in a decent time, and he shapes as the main danger. (11) SAUDI SOCKS and (5) LUCKYRINGMAN are the pair with experience having debuted together over 1000M on May 31st finishing 5th and 6th respectively and they can both have come on for the run. (8) SPEARS is another first-time starter who hinted at ability in two trials.
| Selections | (2) Maho (6) Kkumui Yeonsok (11) Saudi Socks (5) Luckyringman |
| Next Best | 8, 4 |
| Fast Start | 2, 5, 6, 10 |
Seoul Race 2: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million
Decent maiden win four of the eleven racing for the first time. We’ll side with experience and (5) ROAD TO CHAMPION, who after a good trial, ran 2nd on debut over 1000M on May 30th, leading and only being caught late by the favourite. He should have come on for that run, he can lead again, and this time he can go one better. (4) VICAR DELLA raced handy throughout for 3rd on debut over this distance on May 16th. She too can have come on and can be even closer here. Of the first timers, (6) INTO THE GALAXY showed fairly for 2nd place in a trial just last week. So long as he didn’t leave his race there, he can go well first up. (11) NURI YEOWANG and (9) RAPID STORM, the latter disappointing on debut but previously a trial winner, are the others who will have some backing.
| Selections | (5) Road To Champion (4) Vicar Della (6) Into The Galaxy (11) Nuri Yeowang |
| Next Best | 3, 9 |
| Fast Start | 2, 4, 5, 6 |
Busan Race 1: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million
Fillies only here. After winning a trial, (4) PACHOUI KKUM was sent off as favourite on debut over 1200M on May 24th and while she raced close to the pace, she ultimately had to settle for 2nd. She should have come on for that, she draws better today, and she will be expected to come out on top here. (5) MAEWU has made progress in her latest couple, most recently when 4th at this distance on May 22nd. The same apprentice keeps her weight nice and low, and she can be a danger here. (8) PILSEUNG WINNER is similarly looking as though she is figuring things out and enters off a close 2nd at this distance on May 31st when on pace. Seo Seung-un is on for the first time and she will have plenty if backers. There are a couple of debut makers and (1) SUPER CROWN performed fairly in two trials. (3) LOOKS GOOD another of the experienced ones who can improve.
| Selections | (4) Pachoui Kkum (5) Maewu (8) Pilseung Winner (1) Super Crown |
| Next Best | 3, 11 |
| Fast Start | 3, 4, 5, 8 |
Seoul Race 3: Class 6 (1400M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million
(1) CRUSH GIRL was 4th on debut and followed up with 2nd place over 1300M on May 17th. Both times she has come from off the pace, so the slight step up again can suit and third-up she can be peaking. (8) JECHUK SANJIRO has finished in the top five in all of his four starts so far and he enters off his best to date when 2nd in a slow run race over this trip on May 31st. He can sit just behind the speed here and challenge late. (5) SEMYEONG PEAK was ordinary in her first two, but she has been consistently close in six subsequent efforts, most recently when 3rd over 1700M on May 23rd. She was 4th on her previous try at this trip and should be there or thereabouts again. (10) BEST A ONE and (7) DYNAMIC FORCE others firmly in the frame.
| Selections | (1) Crush Girl (8) Jechuk Sanjiro (5) Semyeong Peak (10) Best A One |
| Next Best | 7, 11 |
| Fast Start | 2, 5, 9, 10 |
Busan Race 2: Class 5 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million
(2) STEALTH KINGMAN was 2nd on debut over 1300M in April and then won at the same distance at start number two on May 31st, both times racing on pace. He is up in class but is down in weight, nicely drawn, and he can win again. (6) BORYEONGUIKWAESOK is never going to be beloved by racecallers, but she won her only start to date all the way back last September over 1000M. She performed fairly enough in a late May trial and under a light weight, she could pick up from where she left off. (8) WHITE OIL beat four of today’s rivals when coming home an in excess of 20/1 winner at this class and distance on May 31st. He is up 3kg in weight but warrants more respect today. (11) HEUIMANG TAYO and (4) WORLD BOLD MAN others in the hunt.
| Selections | (2) Stealth Kingman (6) Boryeonguikwaeseok (8) White Oil (11) Heuimang Tayo |
| Next Best | 4, 1 |
| Fast Start | 2, 5, 6, 11 |
Seoul Race 4: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million
(5) STORM LIGHT was a maiden winner at this distance two starts back before running 3rd on her first try at this class on May 16th when leading for much of the way. She stays under a light weight, and drawn well to lead again, she has very chance. (4) CHEONGONGUI SEOM’s sole win came over this distance back at start number three and he has been consistently close at this class ever since. He comes in off a 2nd and two 3rd places from his latest three, all at 1200M and the step back up in distance can be to his benefit with an apprentice taking 2kg off his back. (6) PURPLE KOREA was 4th when overcoming the widest gate on her first try at this class and distance on May 30th and with a better draw today, she can get closer. The returning (9) ALPHA FEMALE, along with (3) ISIMNYEON SEWOL, others in the frame.
| Selections | (5) Storm Light (4) Cheongongui Seom (6) Purple Korea (9) Alpha Female |
| Next Best | 3, 7 |
| Fast Start | 4, 6, 7, 11 |
Busan Race 3: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million
Fillies only here. (9) WIDAEHAN HEART ran 2nd on debut all the way back last October and then didn’t reappear until this May 31st when she was an all the way winner at 1300M. That brings her up in class and in trip and while she even comes up in weight, she should strip fitter for that run and she can win again. (3) MAGIC SHOW is yet to win in eleven attempts but enters off back-to-back runner-up finishes at this class over 1400M and 1300M. She is up slightly in weight but draws well and she should be in the finish again. (10) ARE YOU READY was 3rd to Magic Show’s 2nd place on May 29th over 1300M. She was the beaten favourite that day and warrants another chance here. (7) WONDERFUL LALA and (2) HUIMANG LOGI are the other main chances.
| Selections | (9) Widaehan Heart (3) Magic Show (10) Are You Ready (7) Wonderful Lala |
| Next Best | 2, 1 |
| Fast Start | 1, 2, 5, 9 |
Seoul Race 5: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million
Fillies and mares only here. (7) FLASH JUDE broke through over 1200M at start three in March, coming from off the pace, before finishing 2nd on her first try at this class at 1300M on May 9th when racing on pace. She can do similar here and she can win. (6) HAKSAN WINNER has made steady progress across three outings, culminating in her maiden win at 1200M on May 2nd when she led all the way. She is up in class and slightly in trip, but she is down in weight and from a good draw she can be on pace again and be competitive. (8) GEUMJEOKSAN has been the beaten favourite in each of her last four start s but she hasn’t run badly in any of them and should be at least a place chance here. (4) NASCA BULCHUNGGAEK and (3) MIGHTY SHINE others to consider.
| Selections | (7) Flash Jude (6) Haksan Winner (8) Geumjeoksan (4) Nasca Bulchunggaek |
| Next Best | 3, 2 |
| Fast Start | 3, 4, 8, 9 |
Busan Race 4: Class 4 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million
(7) JEONGMUN FAPPIANO had a bit of a wobble at the start of the year but gave every indication of returning to form with 2nd place over 1400M at this class and distance at the end of April. Seo Seung-un returns to the ride and they can go one better here. (11) LAMPYOJEONGGEENIE has only missed the top four once in nine starts and enters having run 2nd over a mile on her first try at this class on May 24th. She is one for one at this distance, having prevailed in April and while as a front-runner, the widest gate isn’t ideal, she will have plenty of backers here. (8) MISS SNIPER is another who likes to be on pace, as she was when 2nd at this class and distance on May 24th and under a light weight again, she should be in the finish. (10) SHANGHAI THUNDER and down in trip (6) SEONGSIL DREAM others in the placing frame.
| Selections | (7) Jeongmun Fappiano (11) Lampyojeonggeenie (8) Miss Sniper (10) Shanghai Thunder |
| Next Best | 6, 1 |
| Fast Start | 1, 9, 10, 11 |
Seoul Race 6: Class 5 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million
It’s fair to say (1) SEOUL BIHAENG has mixed his form across five starts, three of which have ended in 2nd place, including his latest at this class and distance on May 23rd when midfield and running on. In this inside gate today, we can take a chance on him to go one better. (5) YEONGWONHAN STAR was a winner at this class and distance two starts back coming from off the pace and then ran 4th on May 9th when getting a bit further back than usual before running on. She’s the main danger here. (2) YES ANGEL enters off back-to-back 4th place finishes at this class and distance, beating a couple of these in the process – including Seoul Bihaeng – and from a much better draw, she can go closer today. (9) ROAD TO HEAT and (10) EUNBIT YUHOK are others in the mix.
| Selections | (1) Seoul Bihaeng (5) Yeongwonhan Star (2) Yes Angel (9) Road To Heat |
| Next Best | 10, 11 |
| Fast Start | 1, 2, 9, 10 |
Busan Race 5: Class 4 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million
(8) DOCTOR CARRY took a while and, more pointedly, the so-called “ultimate gear change”, to figure things out. Gelding him has worked wonders as he has three wins and two placings since, with his latest victory coming at this class and distance on May 17th when on pace throughout. He is up 2kg in weight but has won under this impost before and with nothing to distract him, he can win again. Baring a poor effort in April when using up a lot of petrol from the widest gate, (7) SUN JAE is consistent. He comes in having run 3rd at this class and distance on May 31st, beating a few of today’s rivals in the process, and he can be close again. (5) CAPTAIN EVERYTHING and (6) FANTASTIC EAGLE were 4th and 5th respectively behind Sun Jae in that May 31st race and both can be aiming to match or better here. (11) TANTAN DAERO is another place chance.
| Selections | (8) Doctor Carry (7) Sun Jae (5) Captain Everything (6) Fantastic Eagle |
| Next Best | 11, 10 |
| Fast Start | 7, 8, 9, 10 |
Seoul Race 7: Class 4 (1700M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million
(1) POWERFUL PRADO has only missed the top five one occasion and enters having win over 1300M at class 5 level on May 31st. That brings her up in class and in distance here, but her racing style so far suggests that the extended t rip can suit, and under a light weight, she has every chance of measuring up at this level. (7) BREEDO TROPHY won at good odds two starts back over this distance when leading all the way and then ran 2nd on his first try at this class on May 23rd, coming from midfield. He is up 2.5kg in weight but will probably start as favourite here. (8) PINE PINK has run 3rd on all three tries at this distance and an apprentice claiming 2kg should keep her nice and competitive here. (9) TAEGISAN KING and (2) YEONGWON GIANT others in the frame.
| Selections | (1) Powerful Prado (7) Breedo Trophy (8) Pine Pink (9) Taegisan King |
| Next Best | 2, 5 |
| Fast Start | 1, 6, 8, 9 |
Busan Race 6: Class Open (1600M) Weight for Age / Owners’ Cup (KOR G3) / KRW 500 Million
The only open-age and sex group race over the mile on the calendar. (3) ROSHE is the perfect five from five up to class 2 and a mile. He travels outside of Seoul for the first time and takes on Graded company for the first time, but he has handled everything thrown at him so far and his times have been class 1 level. As the only three-year-old, he gets a 3kg weight advantage over the rest of the field, and he should win. (9) WONDERFUL GROOM was a strong 2nd in the SBS Sports Sprint over 1200M in April and while he struggled when well supported in the SROA Chairman’s Sprint, he is three for three over today’s trip and can be a threat. (4) YOUNG SKYWALKER comes out of the Stayer Series where he put in fair efforts in the YTN Cup and Busan Mayor’s and in more amenable Group company here, he can be close. If (15) ECLIPSE THE KING can get some luck at the start and find his way to the front, he could be in this a long way at each-way odds. (10) DESPITE WIN, 2nd in this race a year ago, and (14) BEOLGYO MASULSA others in the frame.
| Selections | (3) Roshe (9) Wonderful Groom (4) Young Skywalker (15) Eclipse The King |
| Next Best | 10, 14 |
| Fast Start | 2, 3, 7, 9, 15, 16 |
Seoul Race 8: Class 4 (1600M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million
Tricky one. (1) CHUMCHUNEUN JANGMI is yet to win in or even finish 2nd in eleven attempts but her recent form is arguably the best here with a 3rd and a 4th from her latest two, leading for much of the way at 1300M and 1200M. She comes up to the mile for the first time, and the temp may suit with her able to lead from the inside gate and be in this a very long way. (2) MUNHAK CHUKJE struggled in a small field over 1800M three weeks ago but was 2nd at this class and distance on May 17th and on that form, is the danger. (10) HANURI is the only one in the field to have won at the mile before and that, couple with his last start 4th, is enough to have him in the numbers today. (3) SEONGSIL DAERO and (7) HERE I AM are other chances.
| Selections | (1) Chumchuneun Jangmi (2) Munhak Chukje (10) Hanuri (3) Seongsil Daero |
| Next Best | 7, 6 |
| Fast Start | 1, 3, 7, 8 |
Busan Race 7: Class 3 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million
(4) BUNKER BUSTER has never finished outside of the top three and having swerved a spin around in the final leg of the Triple Crown earlier this month, he enters having won his latest three up to a mile and class 3 level. He drops back to a distance at which he has a win and a 3rd from two attempts and while up 3.5kg in weight, he is very much the one to beat again. (5) WIN WIN has placed in each of his last six appearances and comes up in class here as a result. The resulting weight drop can keep him nice and competitive and from a good draw, he can be on the pace. (2) BLACK SPRING was a class and distance winner in March when leading all the way. He draws well here and while up in weight, can be in the mix. (6) OPEN SKY and (3) GRAND MORE other place chances.
| Selections | (4) Bunker Buster (5) Win Win (2) Black Spring (6) Open Sky |
| Next Best | 3, 9 |
| Fast Start | 3, 4, 5, 6 |
Seoul Race 9: Class 1 (2000M) Handicap / KRW 110 Million
(3) MUSKET DAY comes off an extremely easy course and distance Listed victory where he came off a strong pace to win by five-lengths. This is his first attempt in official Class 1 grade, and this race may very well be stronger, but he will hold his own. (9) VICS GO has finished eighth at Group Three and Group Two level in each of his last two runs over 2000M in the YTN Cup and over 1200M in the Chairman’s Sprint. He had come from well back, as per usual, to win two 1800M Class 1 events prior to competing in those races and could win another. (4) PEPPER X may be able to reverse the form with (6) SATANG SONYEO from the 2300M race a month ago as the drop in trip will suit him more and he gets a little weight swing. That victory should have done the latter the world of good and it would be no surprise if she scored again. (2) MANDAERO gets a seven-kilogram weight drop with Woo In-cheol claiming two-kilograms whilst (1) G MOTION is first-up following a six-length front-running trial win last month. (8) MAGLE DAY is another that should not be discounted.
| Selections | (3) Musket Day (9) Vics Go (4) Pepper X (6) Satang Sonyeo |
| Next Best | 2, 1 |
| Fast Start | 1, 2, 4 |
Seoul Race 10: Class 4 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million
(10) YOUNG FIGHTER led throughout to win over 1300M one grade below this in March before a third-place finish to subsequent winner Master Kwaigon on Derby Day at the beginning of May. Prior to his win two back he had a third to Global Champ so his form is good and he will go close. (5) THUNDER MARVEL is a good come-from-behind type that also won two back one level below this over 1300M. He has chased home some good winners either side of that victory and if the speed is on, he will be coming home hard. (8) MUNHAK DAESE is a chance if she can stay out of kickback whilst (8) GWANAKSAN CHECK IN was a winner two back before a second last start and comes up to Class 4 level for the first time. (9) NAMSAN BLACK is also a chance with (7) WONDERFUL PASS best of the rest.
| Selections | (10) Young Fighter (5) Thunder Marvel (6) Munhak Daese (8) Gwanaksan Check In |
| Next Best | 9, 7 |
| Fast Start | 1, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10 |
