This weekend’s racing in Korea will follow the same pattern as the past few weeks with Jeju running on Friday, Busan n Saturday and Seoul on Sunday. The Jeju and Busan Racecourses will be open to customers at 20% of indoor seating capacity as will the Off Track Betting centres in Busan (both of them), Daegu, Changwon, Daejeon, Gwangju and Cheonan. Seoul Racecourse and all off-track locations in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province will remain closed. Here are the previews for Jeju’s Friday card which involves 10 races from 13:30 to 18:00:
Race 1: Class 6 (800M) Allowance / KRW 9 Million

CHOEGOSAYANG – First time starter. Trialed well enough but a watching brief is advised first up.
2
KKUMUIGEURIN – Beaten by three of these when 7th at this trip on January 29th. That equaled his best finish to date. Has run good times though and can get closer today.

ABEURAM – Beta three of these when 5th behind Gwanghaejeonseol on January 29th. That was a big improvement and he can aim to match it today.

HANBYEOLLARA –Disappointing last of ten behind four of these on January 29th having led early. Well drawn again but likely to weaken late on.

YEOKDAEJEIL – First-time starter. Ran well in his trial for a fast time and looks right in this first-up. A chance.
6
GWANGHAEJEONSEOL – The best of those who went on the January 29th race, finishing in 4th place. That was a big uptick in form for him and his best result to date. Under the same conditions today, he can go close once more.

CHEONGNYONGSINHWA – The likely favourite. He has by far the quickest time of any of these at the distance and is the only one to have a runner-up finish to his name. He’ll come from just off the pace and can win here.

CHEONGUNDAE – First-time starter. Trialed up behind Choegosayang and we’ll just watch today.

NAEONEUTTEUM – 6th in the January 29th race behind Gwanghaejeonseol. That was first-up six months on from his debut. Likely to be on pace and has each-way chances.

WHANGGUEMYEOLCHA – Last of ten on debut back in October. Not seen since and will likely need this.
MYEONGGAUIHIM – A winner on debut last August, he has followed up with back to back runner-up finishes beating four of his rivals here last start on January 22nd. He holds the fastest time in the field at the distance and with only 1kg extra to carry today, is the hot favourite to win.

GYEONGCHEONG – 6th last start behind three of these including Myeonggauihim. Yet to win in twelve but has three top-three finishes and the second fastest time. Placing chances.

MISOJEOLLYAK – 5th behind Myeonggauihim last start continuing a consistent run of form that has seen him miss the top five only once. Should be close again. Place chance.
4
ILSONGJEONGGI – An all the way winner over the distance last November, she was slightly disappointing when 7th on reappearance in January. Top jockey returns to the mount and she’s well drawn to lead. Place chance.

BAMAKJEONGGI – Yet to finish any better than 3rd in fourteen attempts but he has achieved that on four occasions including his last start. Times have been consistently not good enough to suggest competitive here though.

NAKCHEONMULGYEOL – A winner at the distance last July but he hasn’t looked like following up in three outings since. Obviously some ability but times not convincing.

HWANGGEUMMUNMYEONG – A winner over the distance in a fast time last July. She’s struggled in five attempts since though with a best of 5th. 5th would be a realistic target today.
8
KWANGAUICHAMP – Won at start number two last July and then returned after six months off to run a good 4th behind Myeonggauihim in January. Likely to be on pace and strong place claims.

HALLASANGBONG – Yet to win but decent minor money record. 9th behind Myeonggauihim last start and lots of form to overturn here.

DEOMJANGPAWO – Interrupted career so far with three starts spread over thirteen months. Managed to win at start two last July but struggled on return in January. Watching brief today.
DALBICHYOJEONG – Decent enough 5th of ten at class and distance last start. One of only four who have raced at 1000M previously. Will need to be quicker here though.

SURYUHWAGAE – Beat two of these on her way to 4th place at class and distance which is enough to bring her into each-way contention today. Yet to win in twenty-to starts but has nine top-three finishes.

CHOESANGWI – A winner on debut, he’s been knocking on the door since without threatening a repeat. Generally finishes between 4th and 7th and that seems the most likely outcome today.

HARRYKING – A long time since his solitary victory but he does know how to pick up a minor check. Could sneak into 4th or 5th here.

CHEONGMACHAEMPEU – Still a maiden but has finished top five on nine of twelve occasions. Good 3rd over 800M running on strong and looks an each-way contender here.

SAMHWANGOJE – A winner on debut, he’s followed up with two runner-up finishes and 4th since. A front-runner, he steps up to 1000M for the first time and has solid claims. A real chance.
7
JEONGSEOKDAERO – The likely favourite coming in off the back of three consecutive wins. In non-Covid times he would be up in class but instead just has 4.5kg extra to carry today. The weight and tackling the distance for the first time are perhaps the only questions but he can make it four in a row.

HIMCHANJILJU – Began his career well before losing his way slightly. Decent 5th last start suggests he may be back on track but he won’t be among the favourites here.

JAGEUNHYANGGI – Very competitive over 800M at class 6 picking up a win and a handful of place finishes. Struggled on first go at 900M and class 5 last start though. Even further and tougher competition today.

HANBAEKMUJEOK – Has the fastest time of any of these at the distance and was a winner over 900M just two starts back. Well back behind Suryuhwagae last start though and others favoured here.
LYCAN – Last made the placings last August and recent form cold. Should get close to the early speed this time but others favoured.

MINYEONGSINHWA – A class 6 winner over 800M last August but has been soundly beaten in three starts at this class since. All three times behind one of today’s rivals.

OLLEYOJEONG – Clear favourite and possibly odds-on. Only finished outside the top three once and comes in after a very close 2nd at class and distance on January 22nd. Carries an extra 2kg today but should be on pace from the start and lead all the way around

EUTTEUMKKUM – 2nd to Olleyojeong in December and beat him prior to that. While ordinary at this distance on reappearance in January, did beat a couple of these. Place line today.

BAEKDUSESANG – Up in class and distance following a win over 800M in January. Form had been up and down prior to that but she ran on well that day and some minor money here is not impossible.

BAEKJEOMYEOWANG – Has some good performances at this distance but most were some time ago. Managed a 4th over 800M two starts back but struggled last time out.

DONGBANGJEONSEOL – Won at this class over 900M last August and comes in with recent form reading well. 3rd behind Olleyojeong last start and a likely the main danger here.

GEUMBITMORAE – Returned from an eighteen-month hiatus to run a strong 4th of ten at 900M in January and has fast times at today’s distance in his record. Place chance.

BAEKDUGOEUL – Class 6 winner at 800M in November but well back behind Olleyojeong and Eutteumkkum on first try at this class. Minor money chance here.

BIBAAKSENTEU – Fastest time of any of these at the distance but recent form has been indifferent and others are favoured today.
HANBAEKDOLPA – Winner of three in a row last summer at classes 6 and 5 but struggled on return in January on first try at this class and distance. Worth another chance here as should be fitter.

DAEWANGHWANGJE – The nine-year-old veteran picked up a couple of cheques last summer but has been in indifferent form since and that’s set to continue here.

GWANGHAEJEONSA – Solid record at this distance if unspectacular. Comes in off a 5th of twelve finish last start and from a good draw can be prominent here and run into some money.

SEUNGILGYO – Deep closer in his latest three outings, running into money each time. Goes back again here and should pass plenty late on. May just run out of track but as good a chance as any.

GANGNAMSONYEON – Somewhat unexpected winner over class and distance on a wet track on February 19th, beating three of these in the process. Top jockey remains on but will have to carry an extra 3.5kg. Won’t favourite but don’t rule out.

SAMDABIHAENG – Has come from well off the pace in latest two to run close. 4th beind Gangnamsonyeon last start and nice light weight to carry again. Minor money hopes.

HWANGGEUMGAMYEON – Midfield or worse in similar company to this in recent starts and looks to be an outsider here.

BEOMNABI – Knocked on the door of the places a few times in recent outings but looks up against it here.

CHEONGROKBISANG – Managed a class and distance 3rd two starts back but midfield last time and similar result likely today.

JANGJEONBOBAE – 4th three starts back a highpoint if late. Well back in latest two and an outsider here.

JEONSEUNGWANGJA – Has the fastest time of any of these at the distance and managed a quick 2nd three starts back. Indifferent last time out but place chance here.

TAMRASINBI – Probably the most consistent among these even if he has been finding one or two too quick recently. Wide draw shouldn’t be a problem and he should go close. May start favourite.
MIRAEWANG – Comes in after running 2nd and then 4th, behind Ildaegangja and (5) Sanggaeutteum last start but ahead of plenty of others and has solid claims for at least another place. On pace from the start.

WONDONGHIT – Managed a 4th place three starts back won’t find things easy here. Outsider.

TYROSU – Won two in a row before being beaten when favourite two weeks ago at 1000M. He is up in class today but considerably down in weights so comes into the equation. Not impossible.

EOJEONGJEOKGI – Uptick in form last start when 3rd over this distance. A long way behind the winner though and plenty to find today.

SANGGAEUTTEUM – Comes in off two solid 3rd place finishes at this distance and 1000M. Beat plenty of these last start and can beat plenty again.

CHEONGJEONGSIDAE – Good 2nd place last start with a front-running effort and he has finished ahead of a few of these in recent outings. On pace and can stay on to contest at least the minors.

WOLCHUL – Occasionally pulls off a 3rd place but that’s the exception rather than the rule. Well back behind many of these last time.

DONGBAEKDONGSAN – In the middle of the pack when racing against lots of these in a number of recent stats and similar expected today.

HIMCHANSESANG – No better than midfield in three starts since resuming in November and similar expected today.

ILDAEGANGJA – Beat five of these on his way to an easy victory at this class over 1000M on February 19th. It had been coming following back to back runner up finishes. Likely favourite and every chance of winning again although he does carry an additional 6kg.

YURANGBYEOL – Mixed his form in recent outings and has been beaten by lots of these across his latest two.

GANGNAMDAEGA – Class and distance winner in early November but really struggled in three outings since and others favoured here.
YEEONJEOKJUNG – A winner of two from five so far and has beaten plenty of these in his latest two. First try at the distance but running style should suit and he is a chance here.

DEOKSANSIDAE – Front-runner who should be the quickest out of the gate. Never too far away at the end but expect a few to go past.

SAEBARRAM – Two wins from six, she struggled from a wide draw behind plenty of these last start but can be given another chance today. Place claims.

JAEBEOL – 4th in all four starts at this level including finishing ahead of the likes of Kwangauinyeol in January. Beaten by three of these last start but not without a chance here.

KEUMKWANOKJO Seems to have found her level with a strong of midfield finishes. Minor money the best chance.

CHANGGEONTAEYANG – Proven capable of placing at this level but form has gone cold of late and an outsider today.

JUNGUSINHWA – Had an interrupted career even more than most but well back in latest two starts and hard to recommend for improvement here.

OREUM – Doesn’t win out of turn but comes in off strong 2nd to Kwangauineoul last start and has placing claims again.

GANGNAMSANSEONG – Well back in recent outings and an outsider again here.

BONGHWANGSAE – Good 3rd behind Kwangauineoul and Oreum last start. That was a big uptick in form and will need to improve to match it in strong company here.
JEJUJARANG – Class and distance winner last August but well beaten by plenty of these across four starts since.

REVENANT – Recent form has been cold and she has plenty she needs to overturn here in order to be competitive.

NUNBUSIN – First start since August 2019. Won two from right prior to her injury setback. Looked well when trialing last week but best to take a watching brief first up.

BICHUIYEONGGWANG – Ran 2nd to Ungjinuihim over class and distance on February 5th leaving plenty of these behind. Beat that one two starts back. Good form prior to that too and firmly in the mix here.

SINCHONRO – Not too far away in recent outings but slightly disappointing on latest when 6th behind Ungjinuihim. Goes back and runs on but sometimes leaves too much to do.

WANBYEOKHAN – Won at class and distance in December and capable of overturning form that saw home beaten by a fair few of these in two starts since. Minor money chances.

DEUNDEUNHAE – Class 3 winner over 1000M in Janaury before running 3rd on first try at this class and distance on Feb 5th behind Ungjinuihim and Bichuiyeonggwang. Big weight advantage over both again and can go close.

DAONUIJEONSEOL – Three wins and never worse than 4th in eight starts so far. Fastest time at this distance among these by some margin. Runner-up in each of his latest three he is favored to go one better today despite the additional weight.

HWANGYONGUIBYEOL – Midfield in three starts since resuming and similar is expected today.

HOTBLUE – Only one top two finish in twenty-six starts – it was a win – and it was some time ago. Outsider here.

ILSABAEKRI – Super filly who has won seven from seven so far. Her latest was at class over not much shorter and she is strongly fancied to maintain her flawless record today.

TAMNABOMUL – Returned from a year off in December to run last of nine. Obviously needed the run but little to suggest drastic improvement likely here.

ILSASIMNI – Winner of eight from nineteen and coming to grips with this level. Beaten by Samcheonjigyo last start but solid claims to overturn that form here. Place chance.

WONDONGPOWER – Midfield or worse in five starts since resuming and similar expected here.

PANCH – Came from well off the pace to win at class and distance on sloppy track on January 6th but failed to follow up. In February. This is a tough ask.

GYEONGSEONGJEIL – First start since last August. Mixed his form prior to that. Trialed positively in January but tough ask first-up.

SAMCHEONJIGYO – Beat four of these when 2nd on latest outing which was a significant uptick in form. Respect today.

HEUKPOKPUNG – First start since last August for the veteran but he looked nice and handy when wining a February trial. Not too much confidence here but could be a wildcard for a place.

CHEONGRYONGSEUTA – The main danger to Ilsabaekri, she has won six of seven so far/ Up in class here but like the favourite she looks class 1 bound sooner rather than later. Loads of potential but Ilsabaekri, a year her senior, is perhaps a little further on right now.

MARYANG – In the form of his life at the end of last year, winning two from his latest three. Comes in fresh after three months off and while he may not be quick enough for the two upstart fillies, you’d fancy his chances against the rest.

DANGDAEGAMUN – First start since November but form prior to the break was indifferent and an outsider in this company.
TAEBAEKSAN – Made all to win both starts so far, both in superior times than anything else in the field has managed to date. Red-hot favourite to make it three from three.

CHEONJIDAEBU – Two for two and while he hasn’t been quite as impressive as Taebaeksan, he has done what has been asked of him and is clear second-favourite.

ILSAMCHIN – Yet to score in nine but an encouraging 3rd last start. This is a tough race though so minor money his best chance.

SIGINTEU – Won a trial before running 4th on debut behind Cheonjidaebu. Won’t be easy but matching that is an achievable aim today.

KYUNGSEONGUIBYEOL – Winner on debut at the distance in a time that only Taebaeksan and Cheonjidaebu have gone quicker than. 3rd on start two behind Cheonjidaebu and ahead of Siginteu. That’s her most likely finishing position again.

JEJUJEONGSANG – Well back in both starts so far and a tough ask today.

MYEONGMAJARANG – First time starter and while he didn’t do much wrong in his most recent trial, this is a very hard ask first-up.
