Race 1: Class 6 (1000M) Allowance / KRW 22 Million
Solid form at a premium here so (3) NINA gets the verdict following a creditable enough 5th place on debut last month. It was nothing special but showed promise and she can go on to win here. (6) EDGE OF WINNER showed improvement on her second start a month ago and can continue to develop here while (5) EURO SHINHWA was by no means disgraceful on debut either. (8) BAEKDU BAEKHO certainly didn’t impress on his own debut back in August but has been back trialling since and has looked much better. Debut-maker (7) SAEROUN BARAM is another to consider.
Selections | (3) Nina (6) Edge Of Winner (7) Saeroun Baram (8) Baekdu Baekho |
Next Best | 5, 4 |
Fast Start | 2, 3, 4, 8 |
Race 2: Class 6 (1000M) Allowance / KRW 55 Million
Juveniles only here and five of the twelve have raced before. Among those, (4) PYEONGCHANG HORANGI recorded the best finishing position but the performance of (1) TRINITY, landing a quicker time in a better race, suggests that he is the pick of the experienced ones. (2) YEONGGWANGUI CHAMP did ok on debut too but it’s to the debut-makers that we’ll turn to find the other contenders. (11) HIDDEN CHAMP and (10) DAMYANG GONGJU trialled up together and the former looks to have decent claims first up.
Selections | (11) Hidden Champ (1) Trinity (10) Damyang Gongju (2) Yeonggwangui Champ |
Next Best | 12, 8 |
Fast Start | 1, 2, 3, 11 |
Race 3: Class 6 (1300M) Allowance / KRW 22 Million
(2) FIRST SHINHWA just fell short last time, beaten a length in a good race over this distance, well ahead of a couple of his rivals here and he looks very much the one to bet in what should be another lively contest. (3) BOLD RULES has been 3rd in both her outings so far and can at least match today while (4) JANGHAN JILJU has similarly been finding the money and can maintain that record here. (7) ROCK HARD SEVEN has had an interrupted career so far but looks poised to progress today having needed the run last time while (8) CHOEGANG STEALTH was one of those beaten by First Shinhwa last month but can get closer this time.
Selections | (2) First Shinhwa (3) Bold Rules (7) Rock Hard Seven (4) Janghan Jilju |
Next Best | 8, 12 |
Fast Start | 3, 9, 11, 12 |
Race 4: Class 6 (1600M) Allowance / KRW 22 Million
His name may sound like a type of pizza but (11) SUPER SUPREME should be getting his maiden victory here. He just missed out by a neck at this distance last time, beating three of these in the process and should make most, if not all of the running today. (7) GOOD PARK is the other one who comes in with promising form. She was a rather more distance 2nd in a modest contest at this distance at the end of September but similarly beat three of her rivals here and should join Super Supreme out front early. (5) YEONGGWANGUI CHIC steps up to a mile for the first time and it may well suit while (4) HWARYEOHAN TAEYANG and (9) GOLD STAR, the latter seven lengths behind Super Supreme last start are others who could be involved.
Selections | (11) Super Supreme (7) Good Park (5) Yeonggwangui Chic (4) Hwaryeohan Taeyang |
Next Best | 9, 3 |
Fast Start | 7, 11 |
Race 5: Class 4 (1200M) Allowance / KRW 75 Million
Imported 2-year-olds racing for a decent prize here. Four of them have raced before while four are first-timers and it is Peter Wolsley’s (7) PASHA who’s going to be the warm favourite. He was an accomplished enough 4th on debut at this distance on September 22nd and unless one of the debut-makers pulls out something surprising, he should really win this. Five lengths back that day was (5) I’M YOUR MOTHER. It was her second start and she has shown glimpses of talent making it no surprise were she to be second favourite here. Of the debut-makers, (6) CHANGJO DAERO, a $50K purchase from OBS this Spring and (2) CHIEF ACE, a Bodemeister colt in the care of Thomas Gillespie, trialled up the best and look to be the best contenders to go well first-up.
Selections | (7) Pasha (6) Changjo Daero (2) Chief Ace (5) I’m Your Mother |
Next Best | 1, 4 |
Fast Start | 4, 5 |
Race 6: Class 5 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 40 Million
(3) HAWK KING could only manage 5th on his first try at this level following a maiden win at the start of September. Dropping back half a furlong to 1200M today, he’ll be expected to be on the early speed and could be worth another go here. (9) PARTY TONIGHT is yet to win in thirteen attempts but was a decent 2nd last time. His past eight efforts have all been at a mile so it’s interesting that he gets stepped back just when he was coming close but he should be in the frame here. As should (12) COMING AGAIN. While he was well back behind (1) BLUE DANCER at 1300M in July, she just missed out by a nose last start, running on very nicely at the minimum distance and can get close again here. (2) GOLD RUSH and (10) PERFECT DIVA are others who enter with solid form behind them in recent starts and can come into consideration.
Selections | (3) Hawk King (9) Party Tonight (12) Coming Again (10) Perfect Diva |
Next Best | 2, 1 |
Fast Start | 3, 6, 8 |
Race 7: Class 5 (1600M) Handicap / KRW 40 Million
Tricky contest this. (7) GEUJIKOJI beat (9) SUPER MAGIC by a head as the pair ran 4th and 5th in a tight finish over this distance on September 29th. Both look capable of winning at this level and both have claims here with Geujikoji the one getting the slight nod. (8) SUPER STEAL has been well backed in each of her last two but each time has finished 4th, somewhat surprisingly, behind a less fancied runner who also goes here – respectively (6) LADY CHARTERED and (12) CHEONJI CHAMP – but is likely to be backed again and should be at least matching those 4th place finishes. (3) BAENGMANDORI and (5) GEOWIUI KKUM also both enter in good touch and can dispute the places.
Selections | (7) Geujikoji (9) Super Magic (8) Super Steal (5) Geowiui Kkum |
Next Best | 3, 10 |
Fast Start | 2, 7, 10 |
Race 8: Class 4 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 55 Million
(9) AGNES is turning into a decent filly and comes in here off the back of a half-length win at this class over 1400M on October 15th. She carries an extra 3kg today but steps back in trip and could be good enough to repeat. (4) KING SIMON and (2) SECRET MARINE both performed well in a stiff contest over 1200M on October 1st, coming home 3rd and 4th respectively and that stands them in good stead for today, with the latter a potential leader from the gate. (6) DAREUMBAKJIL was a solid 5th in that very same race and can look to at least match that finish today. (1) JEOKDOUI HWASIN didn’t go well on latest but while it is extremely unlikely she’ll be getting her maiden win here, this is the kind of race she can find the money in as plenty of the early front-runners could come back.
Selections | (9) Agnes (4) King Simon (2) Secret Marine (1) Jeokdoui Hwasin |
Next Best | 6, 3 |
Fast Start | 2, 3, 5, 8 |
Race 9: Class 3 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million
After impressing in two outings at the back end of last year, (8) VANJEFE was then out through injury for six months. He’s three starts into his comeback now and finally looks to be back near his former level with a strong 2nd place over this distance last time. If he can find just a little more today, he can win. The danger is clearly (9) ZEKI FILA. He’s up in class following a win and a 2nd place in his latest two at class 4 and with a 5kg weight advantage, will have plenty of backers to prevail. (3) SSI F STAR is a solid campaigner who has been a consistent money winner this year while (10) YEONGGWANGUI PARK is up in class but can be competitive while (12) TURBO ENERGY is not without placing claims.
Selections | (8) Vanjefe (9) Zeki Fila (3) Ssi F Star (10) Yeonggwangui Park |
Next Best | 12, 2 |
Fast Start | 2, 9 |
Race 10: Class 3 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million
Arguably the most open contest on the card, it’s difficult to say who’s going to be favourite, let alone who’s going to win it. That should mean some value if you take a strong opinion on any of these. (1) MUJEOK SINHWA beat three of these on his way to a second consecutive 2nd place finish at class and distance on September 15th and while (9) OCEAN LINE somewhat unexpectedly finished ahead of him on their return to action two weeks ago, Mujeok Sinhwa looks to be a strong contender here and could well be ridden forward from gate 1. (5) BAROGA is up in class following a win at this distance earlier this month and could back up while (11) B.K. SAY tries the distance for the first time and should be in the frame. (10) BAY KINGS and (2) RUN STAR are both up in class having run 1st and 2nd at a mile on September 29th and have every chance of being competitive.
Selections | (1) Mujeok Sinhwa (10) Bay Kings (5) Baroga (11) B.K. Say |
Next Best | 2, 9, 8, 6 |
Fast Start | 1, 6, 10 |
Race 11: Class 1 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 110 Million
Championship Series points up for grand here in this class 1 contest for horses with a local rating of up to 110. (11) DORAONPOGYEONGSEON, 3rd in the Korea Sprint last month, is the class act of the field and he’s favourite to score at a distance that suits. (6) HAEYA hasn’t quite managed to overcome the setbacks that saw hasn’t seen her live up to her early promise but she’s still turned into a really good filly. She’ll be on pace early and can stick around at least to place. (9) CHEONJI PARK had a hard time in the Gukje Sinmun Cup earlier this month but should be better today; the time before he beat (12) TWO TWO RAPTOR as the pair ran 1st and 2nd at this class and distance in early September. Meanwhile (1) SILVER CLASSIC returned to the winner’s circle last time and can be given a little more respect today.
Selections | (11) Doraonpogyeongseon (6) Haeya (9) Cheonji Park (12) Two Two Raptor |
