Saturday is Derby-Eve at Seoul and there are 10 races from 10:35 to 17:55. Here are the previews:

Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million
(6) WHIZ POINT was sent out as a 1.3 favourite for his debut on April 5 after finishing a one-and-a-half length second in his trial on March 5 but could only manage third beaten six-and-a-half lengths. Johan Victoire, who rode him in the trial, hops on board for the second race of this Shackleford colts’ career and he will get his chance to go a few places better in this type of race. (8) BARAMGAEBI looks the potential danger as he hasn’t been far away in his two starts to date behind decent winners, who have both subsequently won. (3) HAKSAN WINNER was a much better run at her third start and is clearly next best. All three of these horses will race on pace. (4) PIEONARI, (1) MIDEUMUI JILU and (10) GEOSEN HAMSEONG are three of the six debutantes and are best of the rest.
| Selections | (6) Whiz Point (8) Baramgaebi (3) Haksan Winner (4) Pieonari |
| Next Best | 1, 10 |
| Fast Start | 3, 6, 8, 10 |
Seoul Race 2: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million
(9) MONEY MOVE has been placed in each of his two starts to date on January 31 and March 21 and must be a good chance of breaking through at attempt three. It will be interesting to see where he lands in the run but regardless of where he is he is a good chance of coming home in front. (6) NINJA TIGER was out the back on debut but has been much better at his next two with a pair of third places and can be in the finish again. (4) MEGA WIND has been midfield in both starts to date; he was a beaten odds-on favourite last time on April 19 and he does have one-and-a-half lengths to find with Money Move from March 21. (8) ECLAIR WIND has had the two starts and been just behind the placegetters on each occasion. She rates next over (10) INSPIRE and (11) CHEONGGANG BOM.
| Selections | (9) Money Move (6) Ninja Tiger (4) Mega Wind (8) Eclair Wind |
| Next Best | 10, 11 |
| Fast Start | 1, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11 |
Seoul Race 3: Class 6 (1400M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million
(6) BEST JOY comes into this following the best run of his career finishing second beaten four-lengths on April 11. He gets the nod over (11) DAEHAN SIDAE which is the only other horse to have a second placing against their name and in his case his defeat was only by a nose back on April 4. (7) SEOPOKCHAT has been around the mark with one third place finish alongside three fourth places. (10) CHRYSOL POSH hasn’t been far away at her latest two and rates next over (9) CHEONJI JACKAL and (3) SPICE BAND.
| Selections | (6) Best Joy (11) Daehan Sidae (7) Seopokchat (10) Chrysol Posh |
| Next Best | 9, 3 |
| Fast Start | 2, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11 |
Seoul Race 4: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million
(6) CHEONGGANG YEOREUM finished midfield on debut before racing on pace throughout to win a 1200 metre maiden on April 5. Based on her last start there is no reason why she can’t go back-to-back. (2) QUEENS FLYING led throughout to win her maiden, on the same day and that was over this distance so she will be up there for a long way. (3) GYEOUL JANGMI is yet to win and has been hard to catch but if everything went smoothly, she could break through. (1) POETIC NUBI was out the back last time but was around the mark prior and rates over (11) HAKSAN DAESE, which brings similar form, and (9) SMART MARU, who is a last start winner at this level but comes up five pounds and three-and-a-half kilograms for that victory which was by a nose.
| Selections | (6) Cheonggang Yeoreum (2) Queens Flying (3) Gyeoul Jangmi (1) Poetic Nubi |
| Next Best | 11, 9 |
| Fast Start | 2, 6, 10 |
Seoul Race 5: Class 5 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million
(11) BREEDO AQUA is clearly the horse to beat as she chased home one of the favourites for Sunday’s Derby on debut before leading throughout to win her maiden by seven-lengths over this distance on March 14. She will be a hot favourite and if she is beaten it will be a shock. (2) CHEONGSAN DOLPUNG is yet to finish outside of the top five in seven runs and should run his standard consistent race. From a winning perspective the issue is he is bumping into potentially a smart one. (10) JOY CHEONHA has been just outside of the placegetters recently behind some decent winners and that is a fair chance of happening again. (3) MIRACLE SOCKS and (5) GEOLJAK TIARA rate next over (1) TIGER K.
| Selections | (11) Breedo Aqua (2) Cheongsan Dolpung (10) Joy Cheonha (3) Miracle Socks |
| Next Best | 5, 1 |
| Fast Start | 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 11 |
Seoul Race 6: Class 4 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million
(9) GRACE DAY has been on pace throughout when winning each of his last two over 1300M by nine-lengths and a half-length. They have been in Class 6 and Class 5 races and coming up to Class 4 there is no reason why he can’t complete the hat-trick. (11) GEOSEN POKJU has raced over the course, distance, and grade in each of his last three coming from last to win in January before never getting into the hunt on February 28. He ran Cheonmahoryeong to one-and-a-half lengths in his latest effort on March 21 and that form is good enough to go close especially with the four-kilogram apprentice claim from Jo Seong-hwan. The Japanese bred (1) GWANAKSAN RICKEY has had a few chances but has also chased home some nice winners. He may very well break his duck this time. (6) GLOBAL COMPUTING rates next over (7) VINCERO CUE and (2) KING GO TAEYANG.
| Selections | (9) Grace Day (11) Geosen Pokju (1) Gwanaksan Rickey (6) Global Computing |
| Next Best | 7, 2 |
| Fast Start | 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9 |
Seoul Race 7: Class 4 (1600M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million
(8) WONDERFUL SOCKS has not done a lot wrong in nine starts and whilst she hasn’t quite been able to break through so far at this grade from six attempts this is arguably her best chance yet. (5) MATTERHORN K has a second to Perfect Danaeun two runs ago in February which is one of the best pieces of form on offer in what is a hard race to assess. (10) HERE I AM has two-lengths to find with Wonderful Socks from April 5 but rates next despite the draw. (6) GLOBAL PHAROAH has four and two-lengths respectively to find with Wonderful Socks and Here I Am from the same race and is next best over (7) JACHE BALGWANG, (4) TAPDINE and (2) MIGHTY CHOICE.
| Selections | (8) Wonderful Socks (5) Matterhorn K (10) Here I Am (6) Global Pharoah |
| Next Best | 7, 4 |
| Fast Start | 1, 2, 5, 7, 8, 10 |
Seoul Race 8: Class 4 (1700M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million
(2) CLUTCH MAGIC is the winner of two races from four starts and has looked good in his two wins on November 30 and January 25. They were by margins of four and seven-lengths respectively and despite rising in trip he can progress again and win for Johan Victoire and Luigi Riccardi. (3) DANAEUN STAR looks the other key chance. He has also won two from four and just like Clutch Magic his last run was a 1400M Class 5 victory. (9) BULGEUNTAEYANG was an easy five-length winner over the course and distance one level below this in January and has subsequently placed in two runs at this level. He rates next over (10) RAON NOTHERN DANCE, the consistent (11) CHEONGSAN JILJU and (8) JUMONG CHEONHA.
| Selections | (2) Clutch Magic (3) Danaeun Star (9) Bulgeuntaeyang (10) Raon Nothern Dance |
| Next Best | 11, 8 |
| Fast Start | 2, 3, 4, 8, 11 |
Seoul Race 9: Class 3 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million
(2) MAJOR CROWN is a smart American bred four-year-old colt who has been an impressive winner of each of his last two starts one grade below this for Kim Hyo-jung and Lee Shin-woo. However they have been over 1200M, and this is a huge 600M rise in trip. He has tackled 1800M twice finishing unplaced so it will be interesting to see how he gets on but if he stays, he can complete the hat-trick. (1) NASSAU CHAT is a smart come-from-behind type who won two consecutive races across the winter over the course and distance accounting for smart types in Chrysol Stone and Circle A, both subsequent winners. He then went up two levels to Class 2 grade and was midfield to No Problem before finishing midfield to Circle A and Gamsaui Him at this class last time. He has the class however it could be hard for him to make the up the ground at the finish of this race as there is not a whole lot of early speed on paper so the pace of the race may go against him. (4) DRAGON GATE was down the track over the course, distance, and grade a month ago but is generally pretty consistent and he was a winner under these conditions in January, however with five-and-a-half kilograms less than what he carries in this. (5) SPLENDID is best of the rest over (8) BREEDO SIRIS and (11) SUPER THUNDER.
| Selections | (2) Major Crown (1) Nassau Chat (4) Dragon Gate (5) Splendid |
| Next Best | 8, 11 |
| Fast Start | 2, 4, 11 |
Seoul Race 10: Class 3 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million
(9) WILD SOCKS will be doing his best work at the finish and came from last to win a course, distance, and grade contest back in January with only one-and-a-half kilograms less than what he carries in this race. He has subsequently been fourth at his next three starts and he should be able to go close again in a race where it might pay off to back the closers as there is a lot of early speed drawn towards the inside whilst there is little to no speed from the outside gates. (11) MARU JANGGUN is another who can capitalise on the potential early speed battle. He has placed in two of his past three starts and those two placings have been over the course, distance, and grade. (5) GIANT BOSS is a smart type, evidenced by his second beaten a neck to Flutter two back. He is a last start course, distance, and grade winner however he goes up ten pounds and six-and-a-half kilograms for that win so this will be harder. (4) SINUI YEOJE is first-up for just over three months but was going well enough when last at the races to be a chance. (3) TOHOMARKET might not be the worst at big odds whilst (7) CHEONGRYONGUI CAL has been placed in two runs at this grade. (2) K POWERFUL and (10) THE SUN FIGHTER are chances as well in a competitive race to close Derby Saturday.
| Selections | (9) Wild Socks (11) Maru Janggun (5) Giant Boss (4) Sinui Yeoje |
| Next Best | 3, 7 |
| Fast Start | 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 |
