Saturday’s racing is at Seoul with 11 races from 10:35 to 17:55. Here are the previews:
Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million
Three-year-old maidens with eight of the eleven racing for the first time. (6) NAEGILUIWONDERFUL showed a decent turn of foot in his trial, settling midfield and finishing off well for a close 3rd in a decent time. 1200M can suit first up and he is a chance. (8) STEPPING STONE went through two trials, improving in the second of them when he came out on top having raced handy throughout. He should be nice and fit for his debut. (1) BEAUTIFULLY similarly had two trials, running second in the latest of them. From the inside gate she has a real chance too. With the three with experience not having impressed, other debut-makers (2) STUNNING SKET and (11) MASK GIRL look the most likely.

Seoul Race 2: Class 6 (1400M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million
(9) UHANGSANGSTAR came from the widest gate and a long way back to run 2nd on debut over 1200M back at the end of January. She then went lame so she hasn’t raced since but she came back into full work on April 12th and if her fitness is up to scratch, she should make a winning return. (6) HWARANGSAN JEONGGI looks to be figuring things out with his latest three finishes being his best, including a close 2nd place at this distance. He had an apprentice claim in all three of those, which he doesn’t get today, but in this limited company, it shouldn’t matter and he can be close again. (8) CHEONGRYONG GIUN has been knocking on the door of the places in recent outings and can be in the mix again. (4) K N STORM and (7) BLUE DRAGON other minor money chances.

Seoul Race 3: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million
Nine fillies and one colt in this maiden. (1) BLACK MAMA has a couple of 4th places to her name, most recently on March 29th when she was ridden further forward than previously. She draws well for the same tactics here, Maia is on for the first time, and she can win. (7) ORATORIUM was a fair 4th on debut over 1200M on March 15th when from a wide gate, she settled midfield and finished off well. She draws better today and if she has come on for the run, she has every chance. Continuing the pattern of last start 4th places, (2) CHEONDUNGUI JILJU improved to finish there at start two on March 29th and can continue to make progress here. (6) STUNNING BOLT and (9) YEONGWONHAN SOLEO are the other place chances.

Seoul Race 4: Class 6 (1700M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million
(4) GOJU ILCHEOK has made steady progress across his latest couple of outings and comes in having stepped up to 1700M for the first time on March 14th and recording his best result to date when 2nd having been ridden much further forward much earlier than in previous starts. He draws well for a repeat of those tactics, and he is the one to beat. (3) SKYLOR TAEHA came from off the pace to run an improved 3rd over 1400M at start number two on March 22nd. The step up to two tuns can suit and he shapes as the main danger. (6) BULGUKSIDAE is yet to finish in the top two in seventeen attempts but comes in off a 4th and a 3rd from her latest two, both at this distance and she can be there or thereabouts again. (11) BLACK SUN and (9) ROAD TO SPEAR others in the minor money hunt.

Seoul Race 5: Class 5 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million
(11) TIGER BULPAE is yet to win but has never finished any worse than 5th in five starts so far. She was a beaten favourite when 5th from the same wide draw last time out but in this company, she is worth another chance. (7) SEOUL BIHAENG is similarly winless, but he comes up in class having recorded two runner-up finishes among his three outings to date. He likes to race on pace and down in weight, he can measure up. (1) COMPLETE PARTY gets a bit far back in his races, but the veteran draws well today and can challenge for the placings against this mostly limited set of rivals. Nothing else is in any form so we’ll look for (9) GEOSEN DOLGYEOK and (10) YES ANGEL to be ones who were previously capable and who can find an upturn.

Seoul Race 6: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million
(10) THUNDER MARVEL continues to finish around the mark and has chased home some decent winners at her last couple. In her one win to date, she was on pace throughout, but she primarily gets a long way back in her races, as she has done recently. She can go a few places better with some luck. (11) LALA GIRL is another who gives herself a lot to do with her racing pattern, but she has been making up good ground and will also do her best work late. (8) THE SUN MONSTER was 2nd in two runs last month and can be close-up again. (3) WIDAEHAN HAMSEONG is arguably the most consistent horse in the field so must be a chance. (6) UNJU TIME was 2nd last start and (4) EUNBIT YUHOK has runner-up finishes from two and three back.

Seoul Race 7: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million
(6) SWEET SONG was a winner over the course, distance, and grade two back on February 14 before chasing home Unica last time when a three-length second on March 21. She went up 8lb and 2.5kg for her win and has gone up 3lb and 1.5kg from last start but can go close again. (3) ECHO STAR also chased home a smart one in the shape of Concord Blue last time and that form is more than good enough to win this. (5) RED DRAGON goes up 3lb and 1.5kg for her last course, distance, and grade 2nd place finish but the horse that beat her has subsequently won so the form is good. (9) RAON PARANOMA has been generally consistent without winning and rates next over (10) DURAY SHOW, who chased home Love In Seoul last time, and (7) GEOLJAK SIDAE.

Seoul Race 8: Class 4 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million
(1) WIN CATCHER is first-up for nine months but led throughout to win a trial by seven-lengths last week so he might go well fresh with Johan Victoire to ride. (11) K N BIGBANG has one-length to find with the reopposing Hero Cheetah from two months ago but is better in at the weights and can go close. (8) BILLION BOY was down the track last time but won three starts ago before a 2nd to Carolchat two back. (4) HERO CHEETAH is a chance on his first two runs, but he will need to improve vastly on his last start, but he can do so. (5) SAINT RUNNER came from well back to finish 2nd last start and is next best over (2) WHIZ WIN and debutante (10) FEDAYKIN who had a trial victory last September before a 3rd in another practice heat at the start of this month.

Seoul Race 9: Class 4 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million
(4) UNICA bounced back to form last start when leading throughout to win over the course and distance by three-lengths. She comes up 9lb to Class 4 grade but her best form as a juvenile last year saw her chase home Mujehan Geup and Wonpyeong Sket at LR level and her most recent run should have done her confidence the world of good. (11) TEUKGEUP PARTY has not done much wrong in eleven starts and her two runs at this level have seen her finish 3rd to Chief Star and record a five-length victory. She comes up 10lb but only 2kg with apprentice Woo In-cheol on board and she can win again. (6) JILJUUI YEOWANG is a genuine front-runner who from four runs has been impressive in two victories, when being on-pace, and horrible in two defeats, when receiving kickback. Therefore, the start will be key to her chances. (7) GEUPHAENG YEOLCHA and (8) HAENGUNUI YEOSIN have been around the mark in similar races and are next best over (10) WINNER GLORY.

Seoul Race 10: Class 4 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million
(4) GENERAL WIND has done little wrong in four runs with his only unplaced run being last start when midfield in the KRA Cup Mile (Korean 2000 Guineas). The last furlong will be unknown territory as this is the furthest he has gone but that is no reason to go against him. (10) VALID YOUNG has winning experience over this distance range, or close enough, with a 1700M victory last time one grade below this. He does however have four-lengths to find with General Wind from February 15, and the weights are effectively the same from that race compared to this. (3) POWER ETCHED has been around the mark of late, and at big odds, so he is a place bet if once again starting at value. (5) USEUNG JINLI could be a chance but has been no better than midfield in his last three runs whilst the same comment can be applied to (8) ROPPONGI DRAGON. (7) BOLLIN is next best.

Seoul Race 11: Class 3 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million
(3) GRAY CANDY was a four-length course, distance, and grade winner three runs ago but has failed at his next two starts. In what is a hard race to assess with a lot of horses out of form he gets the nod with Luiz Quiroz on board for the first time. (10) DONGJIN BULPAE was 5th in a much stronger course, distance, and grade race than this last start and that type of form must give him a good chance in this. (4) BONGHWA STAY was only a half-length behind Dongjin Bulpae in that March 28 race, so he is a chance also. (5) AMAZON KING and (7) GEUMBIT GANGHO are both good enough for this at their best, however, they are not racing at their best at present. (6) HAKSAN DARK HORSE rates next.
