Seoul Saturday: Race-By-Race Preview (January 18)

Saturday’s racing is at Seoul with 11 races from 10:35 to 18:00. Here are the previews:

Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

Three-year-old maiden fillies in the opener and (10) SEOMDOLMORU will be the hot favourite. After an inauspicious debut, she was a much better 2nd over this distance on December 14th, racing handy and nearly getting up. She won’t need to improve a lot on that to win here. (8) MISS FAMOUS beat a couple of these on her way to 4th place on debut in a similar race to this on December 21st and looks to be the main danger. That pair were (5) GOOD FRIEND and (2) NAMSAN SONYEO who came home 6th and 7th respectively although both showed enough then and in their prior trials, to suggest they can get better. There are two debut-makers and (7) LA FESTA perhaps has the best chance of making an immediate impact.

Selections(10) Seomdolmoru (8) Miss Famous (5) Good Friend (2) Namsan Sonyeo

Seoul Race 2: Class 6 (1400M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

(5) BEAUTIFUL HWASEONG has been getting closer in his latest few, culminating in a 2nd place on what was his first try at this distance on December 21st, when he raced on pace and beat a couple of today’s rivals. The same apprentice keeps his weight nice and light and he is the one to beat here. (8) TRES VITE was 3rd in that race, his best finish in twenty-six outings. He too has been getting progressively closer in recent starts and can go one better today in what is, frankly, one of the weaker maidens you will find at Seoul. (1) CHOCO BEAUTY has a 2nd place on her record as recently as October and can be running on late. (6) BLACK RUSSIAN and (2) YONGBI KING, the latter 4th in that December 21st race, are other placing chances.

Seoul Race 3: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

Another short-priced favourite in the shape of (6) EAST GANGJEOK. After finishing 5th on debut, he has since registered back-to-back 3rd places at 1200M and last time this trip on December 14th. He’ll be on pace, Ruan Maia climbs on, and today should be the day. (9) CHANGJOUI GIDONG returned from six months out on December 21st to run a fair 6th of eleven over 1400M. Before the layoff he managed a 2nd and a 3rd and stripping fitter today, he can be a threat. (11) CHOWOLMA has hinted at ability in two outings to date, most recently 5th behind East Gangjeok in that December 14th race. The wide draw shouldn’t prove a problem, and he can continue to improve. The form drops off considerably after those three, with (1) LADY BLUE and (5) BLACK SMILE perhaps best of the rest.

Selections(6) East Gangjeok (9) Changjoui Gidong (11) Chowolma (1) Lady Blue

Seoul Race 4: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

Since getting his maiden win at start three over 1200M in October, (10) MORE THAN JOKE has been a beaten favourite in two attempts at this class, running 2nd and then 3rd at this distance, most recently on December 21st. In this company he should be on pace, and he can make it third time lucky here. (4) UGWANGMYEONG was a winner on debut on December 22nd having drawn the widest gate and then gone right back before swooping home. He comes up in class and marginally in trip here, but he can measure up. (3) PHANTOM DRAGON races for the first time since his maiden win last July. He looked well on a December trial and from a good draw, can be in the mix first up. (2) ASSI JANGGUN and (5) ECLIPSE EDGE others to consider.

Busan Friday: Race-By-Race Preview (January 17)

The weekend’s racing gets underway at Busan on Friday with 9 races from 11.25 to 18:00. Here are the previews:

Busan Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

(5) GLOBAL HIGH ran 3rd on debut in November and followed it up with a 2nd place on December 22nd when slow out and wide early before running on well. He comes into a better gate today and in likely peak fitness at start three, he can go one better. (1) BURUI PYEONGHWA has shown signs of figuring things out in his latest two, racing on pace both times before finishing 4th and 6th but beating a couple of today’s rivals in the latter of those. From the inside gate he can get a sift run to the lead here and can be in the finish. (7) CHOEGANG TRIPLE ran 4th on debut and was sent off as favourite in that December 22nd race with Global High. He had a poor day at the office, running 7th, but based on that opening effort can be given another chance here. (2) CRUELLA and (11) SIX HERO others to consider for improvement.

Busan Race 2: Class 6 (1400M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

(5) MATONGNYEONG came from off the pace to run 2nd on debut over 1300M on December 27th. In keeping with most races at Busan at the moment, the time wasn’t quick, but he showed enough to suggest he has potential and with some natural improvement, as well as stepping up to 1400M, he can win. (2) CANCAN STEP has a 2nd and a 3rd in her latest two, with the former coming in her only previous try at 1400M. She draws nicely here to be ridden forward in a race devoid of much early speed, and she can be a danger. (7) SEUNGCHUNHANEUNHAE has raced twice, finishing 4th on both occasions. The increase in trip can suit and he can get closer today. (3) SUCCESS COW and (9) SEUNGNI CHANSA are others in at least the placing frame.

Busan Race 3: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

(1) SHANGHAI THUNDER didn’t do much on debut but was much improved at start number two over 1200M on December 15th, when settling midfield and running on. From the inside gate and in this company, he can be further forward much earlier here, and he can make it third time lucky. (11) COWBOY MAN has a 2nd and a 3rd to his name at 1400M and a mile. He was sent off as favourite for his latest start December 20th but got hampered early and then caught in kickback, which he did not seem to enjoy, and ultimately finished 6th of twelve. He has the challenge of a wide draw here but if he can find a forward position, he has every chance. (12) DONGNAM DOLPUNG improved to 4th at start number two at 1200M on December 12th. He drew similarly wide last time and can be a danger late on. (7) B.K DREAM and (4) GOLDEN SPOT other minor money hopes.

Busan Race 4: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

Fillies and mares only here. (6) SWEET BEOMHAN returned from over seven months off to run a fair 5th of twelve in a similar race to this over 1200M on December 8th. She should have derived benefit from that run, she got her win at this distance, and she can return to winning ways here. (8) ALICE MARINE is yet to win in twenty but has no fewer than fifteen top five finishes. They include a 2nd and a 4th among her latest three starts and this is the kind of race she can find the money in, most probably coming from off the pace. (11) CATCH THE DREAM was a well beaten favourite last time out on December 20th when she got bumped about early and then put in an effort her jockey described as “timid”. We’ll go on her opening two efforts when winning at 1200M and then running 4th over 1400M and give her another chance here. (9) FLYING BABY and (3) SMART SMILE other place chances.

Sunday Seoul & Busan: Race-By-Race Preview (January 12)

Sunday’s racing is at Seoul (11 races from 10:35 to 18:00) and at Busan (6 races from 12:05 to 16:30). Here are the previews:

Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

Maiden fillies in the opener. Two race for the first time and we’ll take a chance on one of them with (1) BISANG DAY. She qualified with a solid 3rd place in a December trial in a fair time having led through the early stages. She draws nicely to lead here and couldn’t ask for a softer race to debut in. The favourite will be (10) UNJU TIME. She ran a solid 4th of eleven on debut over this distance in a similar filly only maiden on December 14th, settling back and running on. She should have derived benefit from that and with some natural improvement, has every chance. (3) KARA K improved to 5th at start number two over 1000M in October. She comes in here fresh after thirteen weeks out and can be in the mix here. (9) HIGH CLASS and the other debut maker (8) POWER BAND are others to consider.

Selections(1) Bisang Day (10) Unju Time (3) Kara K (9) High Class

Seoul Race 2: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(7) HYEUKMUSANG got promoted to this class with back-to-back runner-up finishes in his first two outings, both at 1200M, before running 6th in a competitive race on his first try at this class on November 30th. The slight step up in trip can suit, Kozzi climbs on, and he can win here. (9) WANGCHOEGO is also yet to win but comes up in class following a very narrow defeat in a decent time over 1200M on December 7th. He finished off very well so should be ready for another crack at this distance and down in the weights, has every chance of going close. (1) CUPID HEART was a maiden winner at start four over 1200M on December 14th. It wasn’t a quick race, but he won well and can measure up in this company. (8) JURING SKY and (4) WONDERFUL SEEKING others in the hunt.

Seoul Race 3: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap

(5) ECLIPSE THE KING got his maiden win at start number four on December 8th when he raced on pace for the first time and went on to score comfortably over 1300M. He comes up in class and slightly in trip, but neither should be an issue, and he can win again here. (2) GANGNARU ran 3rd in his first two starts before getting his maiden win at outing three on December 14th, racing handy throughout over 1300M. He already has a place at this distance to his name and up in class but well drawn, he can more than measure up. (10) APPLE STYLE will need a line drawn through his first effort at this class, but he is a winner at this distance as recently as November and CC climbing up is in his favour. (9) B.K. BELLE and (7) PINK GOLD others in the hunt.

Busan Race 1: Class 6 (1400M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

(8) WANNABE WITH YOU came from off the pace to run 3rd on debut in a filly only maiden on December 8th. She should have come on for that experience, the additional trip can suit, and she is the one to beat. Her debut was perhaps marginally more impressive than that of (9) INDY GHOST. Nevertheless, the latter acquitted herself when similarly 3rd first up over 1300M on December 20th, also settling back and running on. She too should appreciate the slight step up in trip and she is the main danger. (6) CARIBBEAN BAY was 4th n debut and then beat a couple of today’s rivals on his way to 6th of twelve over 1300M on December 13th and that’s enough to make him clear third pick here. (2) FAST QUEEN and (1) GLORY WIND other minor money hopes.

Seoul Race 4: Class 5 (1700M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(9) WESTERN GUN was a dominant winner on debut over 1400M in October before running 2nd on his first try at this class, again over the seven-furlongs, on his first try at this class on December 14th, racing handy. He steps up to two turns for the first time, but there is no reason why it can’t suit, and he is very much the one to beat. (10) MK LEE enters following three consecutive 3rd place finishes at this class and distance. He has the challenge of the widest gate but he does have the fastest time among these for the 1700M and should be in the mix again. (11) K POWERFUL was 4th being Western Gun in that December 14th race and he also steps up to two turns for the first time. The widest gate isn’t ideal, but if he can find a decent position early, he can be in the finish. (1) MAX WEEK and (2) GANDAGO, both last start winners, the former at this class and distance, are others to consider.

Seoul Saturday: Race-By-Race Preview (January 11)

Its been a very cold week in Seoul although it should warm up a little before the weekend program gets underway. There are 11 races on Saturday from 10:35 to 18:00. Here are the previews:

Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million

Three-year-old maidens with eight of the twelve racing for the first time. The experience is by and large good though and (8) AFLEET RUN will be the favourite. He raced handy on debut over 1200M on December 8th ultimately running home in 3rd place. He should have derived benefit from that experience and won’t need to improve too much to win this. Nor though will (12) TAPDINE. After winning a November trial, he led for much of the way on his debut on December 1st, ultimately finishing 3rd. He has the challenge of the widest gate, but he should be equal to it. (10) BEOLGYO LAVA has raced twice, finishing 4th on both occasions. Her times haven’t been quick, but she should have a fitness edge on the newcomers and can be close. Of those first-time starters (1) BAEKDU ILSEONG and (9) JECHUK LOG IN looked the best in trials.

Selections(8) Afleet Run (12) Tapdine (10) Beolgyo Lava (1) Baekdu Ilseong

Seoul Race 2: Class 4 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 75 Million

Three-year-old imported maidens here and (2) PALATINO will be the hot favourite. After running 2nd on debut in November, he beat three of today’s rivals on his way to 3rd place over 1300M on December 14th. He’ll be on pace here and while he was the beaten favourite that day, it would be a big surprise if he falls short again. Naming your horse (5) WINNING CHAMPION is a bold move but he did offer a hint of promise on debut when 5th over 1200M in a quick race back at the end of October. He comes in fresh after eleven weeks off and can get closer today. There are a couple of first-time starters and (6) SAINT RUNNER came from off the pace to run on well in his trial and 1200M first up can suit. (8) ACE K and (1) BAKCHARA may improve.

Seoul Race 3: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

(6) GWANGGYOUI GISANG debuted with a 3rd place in November and followed up with a 2nd on December 14th when he led for most of the way around over 1300M. In this company he will be on pace, and he won’t need to be much better to go one better here. After an ordinary debut, (9) HIGH CROWN has since registered a 2nd and a 4th from two subsequent appearances, both over this distance. He can settle behind the speed here and can challenge late. (11) DIXIE MAN ran 3rd on debut at this distance and while he weakened having shown close to the front on his second start on December 15th, Moon Se-young stays up and he can be given another chance. (5) WONDERFUL ALONG and (4) MYEONG POWER the other main placing chances.

Competitive maiden. (8) DRAGON K enters off his best to date on December 14th when he beat a couple of these with a front running effort on his way to 2nd place. He will be on pace here and has as much chance as any of going one better. (4) I AM GO has finished no worse than 5th in four attempts so far with her best being a runner-up finish over 1000M back in July. She had four months off after that and has a 5th and a 4th in her two starts back. Third-up she can be peaking fitness wise and Moon Se-young staying on will tempt plenty. (7) SPARTAN has two 3rd places from his latest three and seems to be figuring things out at last. He likes to lead, and he can be in this a long way. (11) MG FIRST and (3) CHUPUNGNYEONG, the latter finishing off very strongly last time out having gone right back and who can be peaking at start three, are others to keep safe.

Seoul Race 5: Class 5 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

Fillies and mares only here. (1) GOLD QUEENS came from off the pace on debut to score over 1200M on November 16th. It wasn’t a quick race, but she did what was asked of her in fine fashion and while she is up in class, she carries a light weight, and she can measure up. (5) GEUNYANG GARA beat Gold Queens in a trial last October and got her maiden win over 1200M in November. She had a poor day at the office on her latest when weakening late over 1300M just before Christmas, but she can be given another chance here. (3) ONEULDO SMILE won on debut over 1000M in August. She hasn’t raced since but she looked well enough when going through a Boxing Day trial and from a good draw can be in the hunt. (8) ANDAMIRO and (4) ROYAL PLUS others to consider.

Busan Friday: Race-By-Race Preview (January 10)

The weekend’s racing gets underway at Busan on Friday with 9 races from 11:25 to 18:00. Here are the previews:

Busan Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million

Three-year-old maidens with ten of the twelve racing for the first time. (4) UNLIMITED RUN was the fastest in trials, leading for most of the way around and ultimately crossing the line in 2nd place. He draws well to be on pace, and he has every chance first up. (6) OASIS WICKY is the only trial winner in the field, and he overcame a bad start to do it, running on very pleasingly. The 1200M can suit and he is a real threat. (7) SEOGUI WORLD came through the same trial as Oasis Wicky, showing on the lead before crossing the line 4th and he is another who can be on speed and in this a long way. (5) GREAT TOP and (12) ARIONUI GEOM, the latter having run 5th on debut in a very slow race, others to consider.

(8) BEOLGYO WANGCHO has improved across three starts so far, culminating in 2nd place at this distance on December 8th when he led for much of the way, only to get passed late. That day’s winner went on to run 3rd at class 5 level and in this company, Beolgyo Wangcho should be going one better this time. Nothing else has shown much so we might as well give a chance to one of the first timers. (12) THUNDER PASSION took three goes to qualify although he did win a heat along the way on a decent time and that’s enough to give him a chance of the places here. (10) FANTASTIC HIT hinted at ability with a 4th place at 1000M last summer but then didn’t reappear until December 20th when he showed on pace but weakened. He can strip fitter here and go closer. (11) DONGBANG JEONSA and (6) BABEL COME ON other minor money chances.

Busan Race 3: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

Fillies only in this maiden. After a positive trial, (8) ROCK CANDY put in a fine effort for 2nd place on debut over 1200M on December 13th coming from off the pace to almost get up. She should have come on for that run, the slight step up in trip can suit, and she can go one better. (6) EMPIRE DAY was sent off as favourite for that December 13th race and having raced handy, finished a solid 3rd. That came almost a full six-months after her debut in June, when 2nd over 1000M, so she too can strip fitter here and she is a danger. (3) CHRYSOL HERO has much more experience and has looked significantly better since returning from five months out in October. She has a 3rd and a 2nd in two starts back, coming from off the pace both times and third-up she may well be peaking today. (10) PURE MARINE and (2) GREAT MARU others in the placing frame.

Competitive, if not very strong race. (5) USANG RYUNG has placed twice at this distance, at which she also has the fastest time among these. She likes to settle back and run on and today can be her day. She can at least overturn the form on (8) JOJOBA, who defied 50/1 odds to beat three of these on her way to a best in twelve starts 3rd place on December 13th, including Usang Ryung, who was 5th. Coming in under the same conditions, she will warrant more respect today. (3) DAEJI DAEBONG has only raced three times and has a pair of 5th places to his name. He hasn’t shown much in the way of speed but the step up in trip may suit and Franco climbing on means he can worth a chance at an each-way price. He comes up in class and slightly in distance, but he draws very nicely, and he can go back-to-back. (8) TAMNA SUPER got his maiden win two starts back before running a fair 5th of twelve on his first try at this class over 1400M on December 13th. In this company he can be a little further forward today and should be in this a long way. (5) DREAM WAY is yet to win in thirteen tries but has plenty of experience at this level and enters off a smart 4th place over 1200M on December 13th when he got a long way back before finishing off very pleasingly. Seo Seung-un gets on today and he can go closer. (1) STRIDING MAN and (4) ONE WAY ROAD, the latter second-up following seven months out, are others to consider.

Seoul & Busan Sunday: Race-By-Race Preview (January 5)

Sunday’s action is at Seoul with 11 races from 10:35 to 18:00, and at Busan where there are 6 races from 12:05 to 16:30. Here are the previews:

Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

(11) MR.STORM was 4th on debut before running 2nd at start number two over 1300M on November 23rd when racing in that position throughout. He faces the challenge of the widest gate here but third-up he can be peaking fitness wise, and he is the one to beat. (7) RAON THE AFFIRMED ran a fair 3rd on debut over this distance back in October. He was well beaten by a good winner, but he showed enough to suggest he has potential and after eleven weeks off, should be ready for another try. (9) LEGEND TANSAENG has been figuring things out in his latest few. He has the fastest final furlong average time among any of these and should be coming on strong late. She should have come on for that run and in this company can be on the speed and can go all the way. (7) BREEDO TROPHY come sin off two 3rd places and 4th from his latest three. He likes to settle back and finish strong, and he can run into some money again here. (6) BEOLGYO D Y was an improved 2nd at start five over this distance on December 7th, settling handy and running on. He was a long way behind a good winner but won’t need to improve much on that to get in the money here. (8) ARCH DAY and (9) TROLL among other placing chances.

(6) RAON JEWELSTONE ran out a winner on debut over 1200M on December 8th when settling right back and passing the field on the straight. She comes up in class and slightly in distance, but the manner of that victory suggests there is more to come, and he is favourite to strike again here. The main danger is (8) KKUMUI HYANGGI She’s yet to win in nine attempts but has no fewer than seven finishes between 2nd and 4th, including each of her latest three, all at this class. In this company she can be further forward than usual, and she should be in the money again.  (2) ECLIPSE HONOR returns to action for the first time since July but looked well when 2nd in a quick trial last week and so long as he didn’t leave his race there, he can be competitive first-up. The step up in trip can suit, he draws nicely, and in this limited company, he is the one to beat. (4) TOHAMSAN TIGER was 4th on debut over 1300M on December 15th racing handy throughout. It was a slow race, but he offered enough to suggest some potential and he should have come on for the run. (5) EAGLE POWER was a much-improved 5th last time out having run on from last at the top of the straight. That was the first time he has shown anything, but he is third up here and can be fit. (2) SEOBU DANCING and (7) CAPTAIN KOREA perhaps the best of a limited rest.

Seoul Race 4: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(1) BEOLGYO DESTINO was a fine winner on debut over 1200M on December 7th, settling back before being ridden up to stalk the lead and then pulling clear late. He comes up in class and in distance but neither should be a problem and he can win again. (4) HANURI got his maiden win over 1300M two starts back before running 2nd on his first try at this class on December 1st when coming from off the pace. That was unusual as he had been on pace in previous starts and from a good draw, that’s what we can expect here with every chance of him going close. That pair will top the vast majority of tickets, with (2) SUMMER PARTY a distant third favourite. She enters off a smart 4th place at class and distance on December 22nd and can match or better that here. (5) HERO CHAMP and (3) MENI CHARM other minor money hopes.

Busan Race 2: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

Fillies and mares only here. (6) MOTHER CHUKJE got her maiden win at start three over this distance on November 29th when leading all the way and scoring comfortably. She comes up in class here but carries a fair weight, draws well, and with Franco staying on, she can win again. (2) ONES HEYDAY is yet to win in thirteen attempts but has eight top four finishes, including her latest three at this class over 1400M. She draws well to get on pace and Munro returns to the mount for the first time in a while. She should be in this a long way. (7) SEVEN QUEEN finished ahead of Ones Heyday as the pair ran 3rd and 4th over 1400M on November 29th. That continued a consistent run of form, and she should be there or thereabouts again. (8) ACHIMUI HUIMANG and (9) FLY TO THE MOON are the other place chances.

Seoul Saturday: Race-By-Race Preview (January 4)

The capital track’s 2025 season kicks off on Saturday with an 11-race card from 10:35 to 18:00. Here are the previews:

Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million

Three-year-old filly maidens with nine of the twelve racing for the first time. (8) SAMJEONG LADY ran 3rd on debut in a similar filly only maiden to this at the end of October, settling midfield and running on. She’s had ten weeks off since then, but that experience can be key in seeing her home on top here. (9) CLAIR BIG BANG is the pick of the debut-makers. She led every step of the way in her trial, winning it by plenty and in a quick time. If she brings that form to the races, she is a big chance first-up. (5) TTOSUNI SEOUL was a fair 5th of eleven on debut over this distance on November 23rd and she can have come on for the run. Returning to the first timers, (11) HERO CHOICE and (6) SALVADOR hinted at ability in trials.

After a couple of goes to figure things out, (10) LEMON K has a 3rd and a 2nd from her latest two, most recently beating three of these over this distance on December 8th when handy throughout. Expect similar tactics here and she can go one better. (7) GLOBAL SERVE was 3rd in that December race having led for much of the way around. He also has a 2nd place to his name and from a fair draw, can be on pace and in this a long way again. (9) RAON SPILETTA did nothing on debut in September but was much improved at start number two on November 30th when an on-pace 4th. An apprentice claim means he carries 2kg less this time and can continue to make progress. (11) CHEONJI LADY and (1) WONPYEONG NURI other placing chances.

(1) JISAN FORCE was ordinary on debut in October but came up to this trip for start number two on December 1st and having drawn the widest gate, came from off the pace to run a strong 2nd with a couple of today’s rivals behind him. Drawing much better and without much speed in this race, he may well be on pace from the start this time and will be favoured to win.  (6) YEOLJEONGMA was slow away on debut over 1200M on December 8th but ran on well to finish in midfield. He should have derived benefit from the experience, the additional trip can suit, and he should be closer this time. That will mean overturning the form on (9) TURBO CHARGE, who ran 4th in that December 8th race. That matched her previous finish, and she is another who may enjoy the step up in distance. (10) ECO FORE and (4) THUNDER LUCKY others to consider.

She should be the quickest to the front here and she has every chance. (6) DIA ROOK was very narrowly beaten into 2nd three starts back when she led and was 3rd on her latest coming from off the pace. She’ll be challenging for the lead here and Moon Se-young being booked for the first time means she will probably start as the favourite.  (3) GRACE ROUTE improved to 3rd at start two on December 14th and from a much better draw can be in the finish again. Busan Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

The 2025 racing season kicks off with a maiden with two of the eleven racing for the first time. (6) DOCTOR KAREN ran an improved 4th at start number two when she led for much of the way around over this distance. She weakened late and the time was slow, but she showed enough to suggest that in this company she can lead again and will be the one to beat. (11) JEONGMUN FELIX went through two trials in fair times, improving to 3rd in the second of them. He has the challenge of the widest gate but if he brings that trial form, he can go close first-up. The other debut-maker, (2) HANEUL BOSS, is the next best. He was a solid 5th of nine in his trial in a decent time and from a good draw has nothing to fear in this field. Returning to the first timers, (7) BEOLGYOUI HIM and (3) HANNAM QUEEN may be the best of a very limited rest.

(1) SHACKLE LAUD has been knocking at the door in his lates three and comes into a much better gate this time than when he drew the widest when 4th at this distance on December 13th. Tanaka climbs on and he is the one to beat. That will mean overturning the form on (8) PINE BLUE, who was 3ed in that December 13th race. That was an uptick in form, and he can maintain his momentum here. (2) EAST SUN has steadily improved across three starts so far culminating in a 3rd place in an all-filly maiden at this distance on December 6th. From a very good draw, she can be on pace, and she can be in this a long way. (3) DIVINE KINGDOM and (4) HI LEGEND other place chances.

(11) TEAM SURPRISE has been getting closer and closer across her seven starts to date and comes in following a 3rd place at this distance on November 24th when she was ridden a bit further forward than in other recent outings. Despite the widest draw, expect similar tactics today and she can win. (3) DREAMMA is yet to finish in the top two but has no fewer than seven finishes between 3rd and 5th. In this company and drawn well, she can be expected to be on pace, and she shapes as the main danger. (9) SINCHEON FREEDOM picked up at start number three when 5th at 1200M on December 20th and with Munro booked for the first time, can go closer today. He is yet to win but has shown enough against promising horses to suggest that back in more amenable company, he can win. (10) ALL TIME LEGEND is also winless having been promoted to this class with a pair of runner-up finishes from his first two starts before running 3rd on his first try at this level at 1200M on December 1st. He comes up in trip here but should be a danger late on again. (2) BIG JAWS comes up in class having won over 1200M on December 1st and well-drawn and down in weight, can measure up. (3) BABEL DREAMY enters off back-to-back runner-up finishes most recently beating a few of these over this distance on December 6th when coming from well off the pace. Yet to win from fourteen starts, she has no fewer than five 2nd place finishes, and she should be in the mix again. Sunday Seoul & Busan: Race-By-Race Preview (December 29)

The final race day of 2024 is on Sunday with an 11-race card at Seoul from 10:35 to 18:00 and a 6 race card at Busan from 11:25 to 16:05. Here are the previews:

Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million

Juvenile maiden fillies with all but two racing for the first time. (3) TEUKGEUP PARTY was the quickest in trials, finishing 4th in her heat behind three experienced racehorses having settled midfield and run on. She draws well here and has every chance first up. (2) FLYING DAY went through a slower trial but more than held her own with a close 3rd running on well. Drawn well and with Moon Se-young booked, she will have plenty of backers. One of the two with racing experience is (7) JUNMA FORCE. She debuted fairly when 5th over 1300M on November 30th and that experience should give her the edge over most of the newcomers. Returning to the debut makers, (4) GYEOUL JANGMI and trial winner (9) NAEGILUI ACE look the next best.

(3) POWER MONSTER has made good progress across three starts so far, culminating in a close 2nd place over 1200M on November 30th when settling midfield and running on. The slight step up in trip can suit, and he can go one better today. (11) RAON SILENCE ran a solid 4th on debut over this distance on November 30th when beginning well then dropping back before rallying well. She should have come on for that run and she will be disputing favourite status here. (2) MEGA STEP has two 3rd places to her name among five starts. (2) DOCTOR CASTLE didn’t do a lot on debut but was much improved at start number two over 1400M on November 1st when coming from off the pace and finishing strongly for 2nd place, beating a couple of today’s rivals in the process. The step up to a mile should be in his favour and he is the one to beat. The unkindly named (9) FAT BOY has five top-five finishes among his nine starts. He has been doing his best work late in his races and is another for who the additional distance can suit. (12) FLYING ICE beat three of these when coming from a long way back to run 3rd at 1400M on December 6th. The wide draw shouldn’t be a problem and with CC climbing up, she shapes as the main danger. (2) ROPPONGI DRAGON ran on too late on debut over 1200M on December 7th. He comes up in class today but that actually may work out well for him as he is down in weight and there isn’t too much to fear. He gets another chance. (1) GRAND CHASER stepped up to this distance for the first time on November 29th and ran a solid 2nd place. She comes into a much better gate and third-up this preparation, she may be peaking fitness wise. (12) WORLD WINNERS MAN has been working his way back towards a second win with a runner-up finish at this class and distance on November 22nd his latest and while he has the challenge of the widest gate, he can be dangerous. Saturday’s racing is at Seoul with 12 races from 10:35 to 18:00. Here are the previews:

Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million

Juveniles with seven of the twelve racing for the first time. We’ll side with a first timer and (8) SAHARA KHAN who showed on pace in his trial, crossing the line 2nd in a quick time. If he brings that form to the races, he has every chance first up. (11) SSOARA STAR ran a close 2nd on his debut over 1200M on December 12th, settling behind the speed and running on. He should have come on for that run and the slight step up in trip can suit.  (12) JEULGEOUN SANGSANG was 3rd on his debut on November 24th, running through the line pleasingly enough and he can be in the frame again here. So too can (2) GWANAKSAN CHECK IN who debuted back in September with a fair 5th but trialed up again in November and can improve. Returning to the first timers, (7) BS STORM looks next best based on trials.

He was well beaten by the very promising Tap Tier last time out but in this company and well-drawn, he can be on pace, and he can go one better. (7) BLUE PIORA has a 3rd and a 4th from her two first appearances at 1200M and 1300M, settling back and running on both times. She has shown good late speed and shapes as the main danger here. (3) DANCING GRAYTIZ ran 3rd on debut behind Dreamer Whiz on November 24th, coming from well off the pace. He has three-lengths to make up but should have come on for that run.
