Seoul & Busan Sunday: Race-By-Race Preview (January 5)

Sunday’s action is at Seoul with 11 races from 10:35 to 18:00, and at Busan where there are 6 races from 12:05 to 16:30. Here are the previews:

Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

(11) MR.STORM was 4th on debut before running 2nd at start number two over 1300M on November 23rd when racing in that position throughout. He faces the challenge of the widest gate here but third-up he can be peaking fitness wise, and he is the one to beat. (7) RAON THE AFFIRMED ran a fair 3rd on debut over this distance back in October. He was well beaten by a good winner, but he showed enough to suggest he has potential and after eleven weeks off, should be ready for another try. (9) LEGEND TANSAENG has been figuring things out in his latest few. He has the fastest final furlong average time among any of these and should be coming on strong late. (5) WONDERFUL DONGCHON and (8) MAGIC SILENCE others who can be in the mix.

Selections(11) Mr.Storm (7) Raon The Affirmed (9) Legend Tansaeng (5) Wonderful Dongchon

Seoul Race 2: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

(5) RAON DESPERATE was anything but desperate on debut over 1200M on December 7th, settling handy and running on for a solid 3rd place. She should have come on for that run and in this company can be on the speed and can go all the way. (7) BREEDO TROPHY come sin off two 3rd places and 4th from his latest three. He likes to settle back and finish strong, and he can run into some money again here. (6) BEOLGYO D Y was an improved 2nd at start five over this distance on December 7th, settling handy and running on. He was a long way behind a good winner but won’t need to improve much on that to get in the money here. (8) ARCH DAY and (9) TROLL among other placing chances.

Seoul Race 3: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(6) RAON JEWELSTONE ran out a winner on debut over 1200M on December 8th when settling right back and passing the field on the straight. She comes up in class and slightly in distance, but the manner of that victory suggests there is more to come, and he is favourite to strike again here. The main danger is (8) KKUMUI HYANGGI She’s yet to win in nine attempts but has no fewer than seven finishes between 2nd and 4th, including each of her latest three, all at this class. In this company she can be further forward than usual, and she should be in the money again.  (2) ECLIPSE HONOR returns to action for the first time since July but looked well when 2nd in a quick trial last week and so long as he didn’t leave his race there, he can be competitive first-up. (4) SONGDANGMANGCHI and (7) MENI WIN are other placing chances.

Busan Race 1: Class 6 (1400M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

(3) BARBELL TROFEO got sent back to trial after running a fair if wayward 5th on debut in October and improved to 2nd on his return over 1200M on December 6th, racing handy. The step up in trip can suit, he draws nicely, and in this limited company, he is the one to beat. (4) TOHAMSAN TIGER was 4th on debut over 1300M on December 15th racing handy throughout. It was a slow race, but he offered enough to suggest some potential and he should have come on for the run. (5) EAGLE POWER was a much-improved 5th last time out having run on from last at the top of the straight. That was the first time he has shown anything, but he is third up here and can be fit. (2) SEOBU DANCING and (7) CAPTAIN KOREA perhaps the best of a limited rest.

Seoul Race 4: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(1) BEOLGYO DESTINO was a fine winner on debut over 1200M on December 7th, settling back before being ridden up to stalk the lead and then pulling clear late. He comes up in class and in distance but neither should be a problem and he can win again. (4) HANURI got his maiden win over 1300M two starts back before running 2nd on his first try at this class on December 1st when coming from off the pace. That was unusual as he had been on pace in previous starts and from a good draw, that’s what we can expect here with every chance of him going close. That pair will top the vast majority of tickets, with (2) SUMMER PARTY a distant third favourite. She enters off a smart 4th place at class and distance on December 22nd and can match or better that here. (5) HERO CHAMP and (3) MENI CHARM other minor money hopes.

Busan Race 2: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

Fillies and mares only here. (6) MOTHER CHUKJE got her maiden win at start three over this distance on November 29th when leading all the way and scoring comfortably. She comes up in class here but carries a fair weight, draws well, and with Franco staying on, she can win again. (2) ONES HEYDAY is yet to win in thirteen attempts but has eight top four finishes, including her latest three at this class over 1400M. She draws well to get on pace and Munro returns to the mount for the first time in a while. She should be in this a long way. (7) SEVEN QUEEN finished ahead of Ones Heyday as the pair ran 3rd and 4th over 1400M on November 29th. That continued a consistent run of form, and she should be there or thereabouts again. (8) ACHIMUI HUIMANG and (9) FLY TO THE MOON are the other place chances.
