With Seoul taking its summer week off, Busan is the sole action on Sunday with 14 races from 10:35 to 18:00. Here are the previews:

Busan Race 1: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million
Anything could win this. (6) MAKE IT BETTER ran fairly on debut for a 6th of nine finish over 1000M. He was doing his best work late on so with some natural improvement, a step up in trip, and with Munro climbing on, there is every chance that he will be better here. (3) STORMING MAGIC enters off a much-improved 2nd place over 1300M on July 12th when settling behind the speed and running on. A similar effort will see her close here. (8) RAON STROKE was disappointing over 1400M last time out but has a 2nd and a 3rd to her name over this trip and Seo Seung-un being booked catches the eye. (4) AMAZING MOVE and (1) SIMON STAR others to consider.
| Selections | (6) Make It Better (3) Storming Magic (8) Raon Stroke (4) Amazing Move |
| Next Best | 1, 2 |
| Fast Start | 1, 2, 5, 6 |
Busan Race 2: Class 6 (1600) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million
(3) DREAMING BOY has a 3rd and a 4th among three starts so far up to 1400M and has been finishing off his races well. There is no early speed in this race so from a good gate, he can be on pace and the step up to a mile can suit. (8) GOLDEN NICE has been hovering on the brink of the places and comes in off a close 4th place over 1400M on July 19th. She tends to get back in her races so is another for who the step up in trip can be a benefit. (4) BABEL DREAMY is another who settles back and runs on. She has a 4th and two 3rd place finishes from her latest three, beating a couple of these in the process and she should be there or thereabouts again. (2) GEUMA BRISK and first-time starter (7) KING’S MARINE are the other chances.
| Selections | (3) Dreaming Boy (8) Golden Nice (4) Babel Dreamy (2) Geuma Brisk |
| Next Best | 7, 5 |
| Fast Start | 3, 5, 6, 8 |
Busan Race 3: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million
Juvenile maidens with four of the ten making their racing debuts. Usefully for us, four of the ones with experience raced against each other on their debuts and a couple went well. (1) MY DREAM DAY finished the best of them over 1000M on July 12th when on pace throughout and running 2nd. He draws well to lead and this time can go all the way. (2) BEOLMAUI ANGEL was 2nd in that race having been handy all the way. He has two lengths to find on My Dream Day but an extra furlong to find them. (3) NINETY PLUS was further back in 5th place in that race, about two-lengths behind Beolmaui Angel, starting a touch slow and running on. He put in a super final furlong time and can improve second-up. With it perhaps being best to take a watching brief with the first timers, (10) EMPEROR and (8) BAEDARI BOSEOK, may be the next ones to consider.
| Selections | (1) My Dream Day (2) Beolmaui Angel (3) Ninety Plus (10) Emperor |
| Next Best | 8, 4 |
| Fast Start | 1, 2, 4, 9 |
Busan Race 4: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million
Fillies only in this maiden. (4) CHEONHA GEONGANG raced twice without distinction around the turn of the year and was then put away for four months. She won a trial at the end of June and then ran 2nd on her return over this distance on July 12th, sitting handy throughout. She should have come on for that run and will be favoured to go one better today. (5) TROPHY WARE raced three times across the end of last year and the beginning of this, registering a 2nd place sandwiched between two poorer efforts. She hasn’t raced since February but looked well when on pace in a July trial and can go well first-up. Continuing the theme, (1) NAMHAE YEOGEOL returned from almost six months off to run a solid 3rd place on July 7th in a similar race to this and beating some of today’s rivals. She should strip fitter for the run and draws well to lead and be in this a long way. (2) DREAMMA and newcomer (8) UNJU CHALLENGE are the others in the placing frame.
| Selections | (4) Cheonha Geongang (5) Trophy Ware (1) Namhae Yeogeol (2) Dreamma |
| Next Best | 8, 7 |
| Fast Start | 1, 3, 4, 5 |
Busan Race 5: Class 5 (1600M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million
(5) BEAT DRAGON will be a warm favourite here. He comes in having run 2nd and 4th in his latest two, both at this class and distance. He has the fastest time among these for the mile by some margin and he could take some beating here. It’s not an intimidating set of opponents. (6) GOTOTHEVALHALLA was an all the way winner over 1200M to get his maiden win at start number three on July 12th. He comes up in class and significantly in distance here, but he can measure up. (3) EUNSEONG CHAMPION will need a line drawn through his latest when weakening late over 1800M. He has a win, a 2nd and a 3rd from three starts at the mile though and can be in the finish here. (8) ILNYEOM SINHWA got his maiden win over this trip on July 21st and while up in class, he is down in weight, and can be competitive. (1) TOP FRIEND another in the hunt.
| Selections | (5) Beat Dragon (6) Gotothevalhalla (3) Eunseong Champion (8) Ilnyeom Sinhwa |
| Next Best | 1, 4 |
| Fast Start | 1, 3, 5, 6 |
Busan Race 6: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million
(2) YEONGGWANGUITOUCH will be favourite here. He comes in off a close 6th place at class and distance last time out but at the start before, registered a very solid 2nd place over 1300M. He draws very nicely to be on pace and against this limited company, he is very much the one to beat. (6) SUCCESS BATTLE was well back behind Yeonggwanguitouch in that 1300M race but was a winner at this class in a filly only race two starts back over 1300M. She is under a light weight and that is enough to make her a contender here. (5) OUR DESTINY won on debut but then proceeded to do nothing for four races. She has had five months off and looked well when 3rd in a decent trial in July and can go well first-up against this lot. (8) GUKDAE HERO and (3) DAEHOMA other possibles in a race that won’t take much winning.
| Selections | (2) Yeonggwanguitouch (6) Success Battle (5) Our Destiny (8) Gukdae Hero |
| Next Best | 3, 4 |
| Fast Start | 2, 5, 6, 7 |
Busan Race 7: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million
(6) KWAEHAN YEONGUNG is yet to win in eight attempts but has come close including his latest two which have ended in 2nd and 3rd place finishes, both at this class over 1200M. He is able to come from off the pace but in this small field shouldn’t be too far back and today can be his day. (5) HERE THE QUEEN has plenty of experience at this level and recent form reads pleasingly with her latest being a 4th place in a quick race over this distance on July 14th when she was handy throughout. Expect similar tactics today and with Franco climbing on, she has every chance. (8) GUKDAE STAR comes in off back-to-back 3rd places at this class, most recently over this distance on July 7th and he should be in the mix again. (4) SUCCESS YEONGGWANG and (7) UNJU BONNEUNG others in minor money contention.
| Selections | (6) Kwaehan Yeongung (5) Here The Queen (8) Gukdae Star (4) Success Yeonggwang |
| Next Best | 7, 1 |
| Fast Start | 1, 5, 6, 7 |
Busan Race 8: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million
Fillies only here and it’s one of the more open races of the day. (5) HYPER FORCE is yet to win in six starts but has plenty of near misses including last time out on July 5th when 3rd at this class and distance, running on well. She has a strong finish on her and from a good draw today can be her day. That will mean overturning the form on fellow maiden (4) ONES HEYDAY, who was 2nd in that July 5th race having been on pace throughout and then leading in the home straight. She has five top four finishes and while she comes up 2kg in the weights, she can be a danger. (10) QUEEN’S FLETAR is yet another maiden who has had her share of near misses. She has the fastest time among these for the 1300M and the draw shouldn’t be an issue. (2) BORAM and (6) TAP DREAM other possibles.
| Selections | (5) Hyper Force (4) Ones Heyday (10) Queen’s Fletar (2) Boram |
| Next Best | 6, 7 |
| Fast Start | 1, 3, 4, 8 |
Busan Race 9: Class 4 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million
(11) BURUI JEWANG was a winner at this class over 1400M two starts back before running 2nd, again at seven-furlongs, on June 30th. He carries his fair share of weight here, but the wide draw shouldn’t be a problem, Franco knows him very well, and he can win here. The danger is at the other end of the gate. (1) DOCTOR WICKY comes up in class having scored over a mile on July 7th when leading every step of the way. He is down in the weights, he draws well, and he can measure up in this company. (10) SEUNGNI PARTY beta a couple of today’s rivals on her way to 4th place in a fast race over 1200M at this level on July 14th. She may need a touch of luck at the start but if she can find a forward position, she can be in the finish again. (8) BLACK SPRING and (2) SEKWANG CHOEGANG among others to consider.
| Selections | (11) Burui Jewang (1) Doctor Wicky (10) Seungni Party (8) Black Spring |
| Next Best | 2, 3 |
| Fast Start | 3, 8, 10, 11 |
Busan Race 10: Class 4 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million
After running 5th on debut, (4) KING DRAGON won his next two in fine style at 1200M and 1300M to be rapidly promoted to this level, most recently leading all the way at the latter distance and stopping the clock in one of the fastest times of the year, albeit on a very fast track. This is tougher but he draws nicely to be on pace, and he can complete his hat-trick here. (6) GLOBAL WEEK could only manage 8th of ten last time out on his first try at this class, starting badly and never getting going. At the outing before he led all the way and is worth another chance today. (1) FIRE MAGIC has been a model of consistency with eight top three finishes from eleven outings so far. He likes to settle back and run on so from the inside gate, Kim Eu-soo can pick his spot and produce him late. (7) THUNDER FURY and (5) MAX THE DRAGON are the other main placing chances.
| Selections | (4) King Dragon (6) Global Week (1) Fire Magic (7) Thunder Fury |
| Next Best | 5, 2 |
| Fast Start | 4, 6, 8, 10 |
Busan Race 11: Class 4 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million
(3) LOVE KING IJI is yet to win in nine attempts but has seven top five finishes and comes n having beaten a couple of these on his way to 2nd place at this class and distance on July 5th. He carries his fair share of weight again but that’s balanced somewhat by a good draw, and he can go one better today. (8) POSTMAN has won two of his latest three to come rapidly up to this level, most recently scoring on his first try over this distance on June 30th. He comes down a full 3.5kg in the weights and he can deliver again today. (4) CHARMING ACE was a winner over a mile two starts back before running 4th over the same trip on his first try at this class on July 7th. He tackles the two turns for the first time, and he can be in the hunt. (2) NICE BIG GUY and last start winner (5) QUEEN’S ROAD are others to consider.
| Selections | (3) Love King Iji (8) Postman (4) Charming Ace (2) Nice Big Guy |
| Next Best | 5, 6 |
| Fast Start | 1, 5, 6, 9 |
Busan Race 12: Class 3 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million
(4) BAEKDUUI KKUM was last year’s best juvenile filly, but she wasn’t quite able to translate that into the Triple Tiara series when she was 4th in the Luna Stakes but well back in the Oaks. She had a couple of months off after that and returned to sprinting for her reappearance on July 5th, running 4th at this class and distance, racing on pace. Today’s opposition is not intimidating, and she can return to winning ways. (2) STAR DAERO was a winner at this distance two starts back before finishing 5th of eleven at 1400M on his first try at this class. Back in trip and well-drawn under a light weight, he can be a danger. (5) POWER SOUND beat Star Daero when 3rd in that 1400M race last month. In this company he can be on pace and in this a long way. (7) FINAL SEVEN and (3) YEONGGWANGUI TANK will need their respective latest efforts forgiven but are the other place chances.
| Selections | (4) Baekduui Kkum (2) Star Daero (5) Power Sound (7) Final Seven |
| Next Best | 3, 1 |
| Fast Start | 3, 4, 5, 7 |
Busan Race 13: Class 4 (1600M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million
(7) DAYLIGHT KING did nothing on debut but win over 1400M at start two on June 14th before finishing a close 2nd at the same trip on June 28th, racing on pace both times. He come sup to a mile for the first time, Munro climbs on, and he can win here. That will mean overturning the form on (2) RAON VIBE MAN, who won that June 29th race, leading from a long way out. That was his second consecutive success and while he comes up 2kg in the weights, he has every chance of a third. (6) PEGACORN can mix his form, but he was a class and distance winner in May and looks nicely in here to be on the speed and be a danger. (5) YEONYEIN and (4) DUBAI PYEONGJEONG others to consider for the places.
| Selections | (7) Daylight King (2) Raon Vibe Man (6) Pegacorn (5) Yeonyein |
| Next Best | 4, 10 |
| Fast Start | 6, 7, 8, 10 |
Busan Race 14: Class 1 (1600M) Handicap / KRW 110 Million
This is class 1 but with an upper rating limit of 95. (4) BEOLGYOUI KKIM beat a much better field than this with some ease over 1200M on July 7th. He comes up a full 6kg in the weights as well as up to a trip that he hasn’t tackled before, but he can go back-to-back here. The danger is (2) GREAT BOSS. He comes in off a smart win at this class over 1400M in a very fast time on June 9th when coming from off the pace. He comes in fresh after nine weeks out and while he carries his fair share of weight, he is a two-time winner at this distance already and can repeat. (1) DOCTOR FAITH enters off an improved 4th over this distance on June 16th. That was at class 2 level, but this is scarcely tougher and under a light weight, he may be worth some each-way interest. (3) DAEAM JANGGUN should improve second-up following a very lengthy absence. (8) DONGTEUJA BOY is better than his recent form suggests.
| Selections | (4) Beolgyoui Kkum (2) Great Boss (1) Doctor Faith (3) Daeam Janggun |
| Next Best | 8, 6 |
| Fast Start | 1, 3, 4, 8 |
