Saturday’s racing is at Seoul with 11 races from 10:35 to 18:00. Here are the previews:
Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million
Maidens with six of the eleven racing for the first time. We’ll side with experience though, and (5) YEONGUNG JARYONG, who ran a close 5th on debut at this distance on May 18th, racing handy throughout and stopping the clock in a quick time. He had previously shown plenty of speed in his trials and with some natural improvement from that first start, should take some beating. (3) X-FACTOR ran 2nd at big odds on debut on April 13th. The time wasn’t quick but that showing is enough to make him the second pick here. (4) ULTRA MANGCHI improved to 3rd at start number two over this distance on April 27th leading for much of the way around and should be on pace again here. The debut-makers are probably better watched first-up so (9) P N S OHOH and (1) SERGEANT LIGHT are the best of the rest.

Seoul Race 2: Class 6 (1700M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million
Competitive maiden. (9) GALSAEK DOJEONJA has been getting closer across seven starts so far and has a 4th and a 3rd from his latest two, both at 1300M. He has been finishing off his races well and the step up to 1700M, as well as CC climbing aboard, could be what he needs. The main danger is (8) COSMO KING. He has a 2nd, a 4th and a 3rd in his last three starts, all of them at this distance and with some of today’s rivals behind him on all three occasions. He can settle midfield and run on and should be in the mix again here. (2) TWO TWO THUNDER ran 4th to Cosmo King’s 2nd when they raced at this distance on March 16th. He comes in fresh following twelve weeks out and is a place hope here. (5) GOLD MUNGCHI and (4) GANGCHEOL POWER others in the minor money frame.

Seoul Race 3: Class 5 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million
Fillies (and one mare) only here. (5) VIVA CHEONGSU remains a maiden having been promoted to this class with back-to-back runner-up finishes in her first two starts but has shown she can measure up at this level with a 4th and a 3rd from two tries at it, most recently over 1300M on May 4th. She remains very lightly weighted here and today can be her day. (3) QUERER got her maiden win in the weakest race imaginable back in January but has, perhaps surprisingly, worked herself into competitiveness at this level, culminating in a close 2nd at class and distance on May 12th, beating a couple of today’s rivals. She draws nicely to be on pace and should be close here. (1) STUNNING LADY enters off a smart 2nd place at 1300M on April 27th and can be competitive here. (7) DREAM SKY and (9) HAPPY ICTUS among other placing chances.

Seoul Race 4: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million
(7) SEONGSIL YEONGUNG came back into form with a very close 2nd place at this class and distance on May 11th when close to the pace throughout. He comes up a full 3kg in the weights here, but he has every chance of going one better. (3) NAVY CHROME is the danger. A winner at class 6 level two starts back, she ran 2nd on her first try at this class and distance on April 20th, coming from off the pace. In this company and from a good gate, she can be expected to lead, and she has every chance. (2) SPACE RUBY comes up in class having got her maiden win at start number two over this distance back in February. She hasn’t been seen since but has scope for more development and can measure up in this company. (8) BEST THOR and (6) HEART SIGNAL are others to consider for the minors.

Seoul Race 5: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million
Competitive race. (1) KKUMUI HYANGGI comes up in class having run 2nd in both her starts so far at 1200M and 1300M, racing on pace in the latter. She comes in under a light weight, Moon Se-young stays up, and despite the class rise, today can be her day. (10) MANDAERO needs to be forgiven his latest when weakening badly at this class and distance on May 19th. Instead, go on his 2nd place two starts back at 1400M and on pace, and he can be given another chance today. (8) YONGBISU is up in class and down in weight having won at this distance on May 4th and she may measure up here. (2) LOVE O MINE, also up in class, as well as (5) JAEWOO SIDAE are others in the frame.

Seoul Race 6: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million
(1) SOLAIRE will be a hot favourite here. He got his maiden win two starts back at 1300M, and then ran a close 3rd over the same distance on his first try at this class on May 12th. He comes up slightly in weight here, but he draws well, and he should take some beating. (7) HIGH BORN ME is yet to win from fifteen attempts but is worthy of second pick here. He placed at class and distance two starts back before putting in a fair effort over 1700M last time out and he can trouble the judges again today. The rest will need to all be forgiven their respective latest efforts. (4) P N S CAR has mixed his form but could shape up in this company. (5) STRENGTH and (6) MUJANG others who may improve.

Seoul Race 7: Class 4 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million
(9) MIGHTY SHONE is yet to win in six attempts, but she has been coming closer every time, culminating in a runner-up finish at this class over 1200M on April 28th, when overcoming the widest gate. Her racing style suggests the wide draw won’t be a problem and today has every chance of being her day. (1) T.C FAMILY comes in off back-to-back 4th places and has fast times for this distance. She draws nicely and under Harry once more, she should be close. (7) CHOEGO GAME comes in off a 3rd place in a very fast race over 1200M on May 5th. She has only raced four times and looks ready for another crack at this distance. (5) NICE CHEETAH and (3) FLY DAY are the other place chances.

Seoul Race 8: Class 4 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million
One of the most open races of the day. (3) YEONGWON BIG MAN broke through at start number five on May 5th at this class and distance and did it is some style, battling had and taking a narrow win in a quick time. That time was a full half-second faster than any of the others here have achieved for the distance, and while he comes up 2kg in the weights, he draws nicely and can win again. (9) RAON THE COBRA was a winner at this class over 1300M on May 4th, showing on pace throughout. He also comes up 2kg but can be on pace again and should be in this a long way. (8) MIGHTY WHI didn’t do much on debut last November, but she looked very well when 2nd in a quick time in a March trial and Moon Se-young booked aboard suggests there are high expectations first-up. (6) EXCELLENT QUEEN and (7) LONDON SKY among others in the frame.

Seoul Race 9: Class 3 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million
(1) JEOLDAE GACHI will be favourite here. He has been working back towards another win and enters off 4th and 3rd places from his latest two, both in quick times over this distance. He remains under a light weight, draws very nicely, and should take some beating. (7) EUNHYE was a winner three starts back over 1300M and has since run a creditable 4th and 5th in two tries at this class. He likes to race on pace, and he can be in this a long way. (2) RAON THE WEEKEND has weakened in both her latest starts, but she is a class and distance winner and from a good gate, can be given another chance here. (8) MY WIN and (5) UWARYUNG perhaps the best of a similarly out of form rest.

Seoul Race 10: Class 4 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million
(5) COMPLETE LEADER was a winner at this class over 1700M on April 28th when settling midfield and running on strongly. He comes up 3.5kg in the weights and that was his first win in twelve starts, but he can repeat here. (6) ORAEDAHAMKKE was 4th in that April 28th race continuing a consistent run of form around two turns. He gets a significant weight swing in his favour this time and he could overturn that form this time. (8) SEONGEUN CROWN comes in off a runner-up finish over 1400M last time out when coming from well off the pace. He tackles two turns for the first time, and it may just suit. (2) K N TIZWON and (1) BUL HWASAN are others in the placing frame.

Seoul Race 11: Class 2 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 90 Million
(5) COMPLETE LEVEL returned from an eight-month absence in March and has since gone two for two with wins at 1200M and 1400M, both times from the front. He comes up in class today and also tackles two turns for the first time, but he comes down in the weights and can complete his hat-trick here. (10) TAP QUALITY was an all the way winner at class and distance on April 27th on what was his first try at this level having also won at 1800M in March. He comes up a full 5.5kg in the weights and has the challenge of the widest gate, but he shouldn’t be dismissed. (4) MIGHTY CHIP was 2nd in that April 27th race and while he too carries his fair share of weight here, he can be close. (8) MONTAUK CHAT and the returning (6) RANUT are others to consider.
